huddersfield signings!
huddersfield signings!
they have signed tod carney 3 year deal! and brett hodgson two massive signings. i like time smith and camerone phelps think both looking promising but these two what the giants have signed are huge stars! brett hodgson when playing with pat richards in west tigers looks so good on the same field! out played brent webb!! but then we go re-sign richie shit mathers!! theres taking time to show us a big signing and then theres ticking people off i would be surprised if theres a decrease in the attendance but then it will be the fans who get blamed.. loyal!!

Re: huddersfield signings!
and i bet they have come on huge money aswell...
hodgson is over the hill now, dont get mr wrong he will certainly do a job but would have used the quota spot on someone you can have for a few years...
not just a quick fix...

Re: huddersfield signings!
Hodgson openly admitted that he came to the giants because they offered the best deal. He didn't seem too excited to be coming over - more of a case that it was purely for the money. Therefore it is probably the case that he will take a fair bit of the salary cap.
If memory serves he is now 30 and so counts as an Aussie over here for a pension in my book. He may be a very good player; but do we want players at our club that are purely here for a paycheck? Especially one that is approaching the later stages of his career?

Re: huddersfield signings!
I think the question we have to ask is who would you prefer, Carney or Smith?
I like what I have seen of Smith so far but Hudds have got Carney on a three year deal.
I get the impression after a season of being a good boy Smith will take the first offer from an NRL club to go home.
I'd be much happier if we had Smith on a longer deal. It would not prevent Tomkins stepping up as Smith could go to 7 (his true position) when TL's contract is up and Tomkins could come in at 6.
But instead I fear we will end up with a new half back pairing for 2009 and another new one in 2010.
Meanwhile Hudds have sorted the no. 6 slot out for three years.
We are being out-manoeuvred off the pitch as well as on it IMO.

Wigan probably thought something similar when they signed Trent Barrett! How long young Mr Carney stays at Huddersfield is another matter.DaveO wrote:Meanwhile Hudds have sorted the no. 6 slot out for three years.

The biggest Room is the Room for improvement.
The best form of defence is attack!!
Out of the black and into the red, remember you don't get anything for two in a bed!!

I executed someone to reply with that but more often than not players do see their contracts out. Smith has a one year deal with the option of another and would not commit to longer I believe.butt monkey wrote:Wigan probably thought something similar when they signed Trent Barrett!
