Did anyone hear the interview with Dave Whelan on GMR he was replying to the Warriors fans anger over moving the fixture last friday .He went on to say that the Warriors fans have short memories and he saved us from the brink of extinsion he went on he wanted to buy Central Park and develop it and built the JJB to let us play there with the Latics. He went on to say that there was no way that he could have got the ground ready in so short of notice for us to play Bradford .
Sorry Mr Whelan it is you that has the short memory games have been played before Warriors on Friday night and Latics on the Saturday afternoon on more than one occasion before and the crux game arranged within a week

play off game

Friday 1st October 2004
Wigan v Wakefield

Saturday 2nd October 2004
Wigan v Rotherham

So his argument does not hold water he even said that we could play Bradford on the Sunday
only the next day after Latics played Sunderland.
Why does he not come out with the truth and just say that he does not want the Warriors playing the game the day before the Latics but we are quite entitled to play the day after .

whelan knows he has made a big mistake and now trying to take credit for what wigan have done over the past decade, granted he did buy us and moved us but at that time Wigan was the most famous club in the world and if he didnt buy them somebody else would have

We all know Whelan is a complete ar$e.
However I think all the FREE press his getting and the hatred and attention he's receiving is driving him on.
He clearly gets off on being a bully.
Lets not waste any more time on the idiot, or money for that matter.
I know a lot of us are more than a little aggrevated at him , he'll get his one day.

Hopefully at the end of the current soccer season...

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

In a longer version of the same interview he went on to say that we already know that we are playing Saints on Good Friday, so the Warriors have plenty of time to re-arrange the game either to the Sunday (Easter Sunday) or play it at Saints ground, then when we play them again later in the season they can come to Wigan . I don't even know if games are allowed to be played on Easter Sunday. So not only has he no intention of accommodating our match on Good Friday by switching the Latics fixture but he is assuming Saints will fall into line as well. What a guy !!!!

That's wigan's number one fan you're talking about.;) And while I'm in the mood for making clearly untrue statements fifteen loch ness monsters have been caught today by young children with budget fishing nets from Poundland.

so at on point he states we didn't give enough time to play the Bradford game and then says we can't have it on godd Friday as well. Didn't hear the interview, but if above is true, lets see how short his memory is when the laics get relegated?

Jaws1, much as I despise DW, you can't really use 2004 as a realistic comparison. They weren't a Premiership outfit in those days.

Basically there is nowt we can do.

As a Wiganer first and a Wigan Rugby League fan second, I have always been proud of my town's achievements in both sports. I remember cheering them on in the pub against Sheffield 2 seasons ago.

Not any more though!

They do say what goes around comes around and I shall certainly not lose sleep at the prospect of WAFC dropping down the divisions. Which we all know, they eventually will!

And as for European competition, they can now forget it. The recent City takeover puts Whelan back in the category of the market-trader he always was.

quote Jaws1/Kitwasser , much as I despise DW, you can't really use 2004 as a realistic comparison. They weren't a Premiership outfit in those days.

Why not his argument was that he had not enough time to get the pitch ready and was this was done in 2004 .

He should have the guts to come out and say
Now that we are in the Premiership i dont want any Rugby games played the day before we play our match at the JJB.

He contradicted himself really last week saying that we could not play Friday because the ground could not be ready for Saturday for the soccer and also to protect the pitch .In the same breath he stated that we could play Sunday what's the difference back to back days.

The guy is an idiot. The way he carries on its like he thinks he's god and we all know thats not Dave Welan who posts on here!

I will never spend a single penny on the JJB stadium from this day forward, co-op on my way to the games from now on! He has single handed ruined any relations the rugby had with the football, which i feel is a shame, it should not be just the Rugby that accomodates the problems, it should be you pat my back and i will pat yours. I just hope joint season ticket holders think twice next time and choose the Warriors. Premiership Football is available at the Reebok down the road, we know alot of people got tickets to watch the likes of Chelsea and Arsnal and Man Utd. Mr Whelan needs to remember this too! Wigan fans would have been there before premiership football if this was not the case!!!
