SALFORD SET UP CRUSADERS MEETING

Salford will meet Celtic Crusaders in the Co-operative National League One Grand Final at Warrington on Sunday week after gaining a crushing 11-try 62-18 victory over Whitehaven in the final eliminator at The Willows.

Shaun McRae's men bounced back in style from their 44-18 defeat by the Crusaders and will get the chance to avenge their semi-final defeat when they meet the Bridgend club at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Salford never looked back after storming into an 18-0 lead inside 11 minutes thanks to converted tries from Paul Highton, Jordan Turner and Luke Adamson.

Whitehaven's problems increased when scrum-half Tane Manihera went off with a shoulder injury and they conceded further tries before half-time to Paul White, Stephen Myler, John Wilshere and Matt Gardner.

The Cumbrians battled for pride and were rewarded with tries from substitute Marc Shackley and Ade Adebisi, to add to Spencer Miller's first-half effort, and Greg McNally kicked a third conversion.

But Turner added a second try and others came from Stephen Bannister (2) and Ian Sibbit, while Wilshere took his goal tally to nine to finish with 22 points

i will be attending that finals weekend in warrington as it is a short 15 minute bus journey from where i live and im looking forward to see how they cope under the pressure.

im going to go with a celtic crusaders win.
