DW is using the short notice as an excuse.

Is he seriously saying that with 6 days notice he couldn't get the ground staff to pull an extra days shift? That was all that needed. I could have managed without a pint of his watery Fosters.

I tell you what - let's get a contingency fund sorted and we can pay for the groundstaff - stewards etc to come in on double time.

As for his saving the club. Well huge parts of that may well be true but it was on his terms. He made some handsome profits by separating off the food/drink and corporate entertainment and then siphoning off strip and merchandise income into revenue streams separate from the club as a whole.

What a crock of shit - he can kiss my arse.

Imo, Dave Whelan was more unwilling to pay his staff over-time, than the actual fact of logistics surrounding "getting the stadium ready". This was about money, he was not prepared to spend any, to allocate Wigan Warriors the "home" fixture, nor relinquish what he would have already budgeted for with the visit of Sunderland the day after (if for some reason it had to be "called off" for pitch reasons). The thought of rescheduling the fixture (and the costs that would have involved) would never have even entered his mind.

After his interview, I think it is time for Mr.Lenegan to get out the contract and take a visit to the lawyers unless he knew anything about about this priority thing when signing the contract!

basically us and latics have a lease on the ground so it is in both clubs right to be allowed to play on the ground, whether this is 24 hours apart or 3 weeks apart!

Maybe IL should begin negotiating with Whelan now about playing this game! after all we all know its our turn to host the game.

I agree with what you say but do you honestly think that negotiations are not taking place regarding this :conf:

I agree. And I cannot conceive how, as a businessman, he would not allow the Good Friday game to be played as normal considering he has 8 months to arrange the ordinary and Corporate Hospitality, beer, food sales etc etc. on the only occasion in the year he is guaranteed a capacity crowd and the collateral income from which all end up in his pocket!

My guess is that he has already agreed it but plans to keep it to himself for now and make himself out to be the good guy by allowing the derby game to go ahead as normal!

Whelan is like a Black Hole, he sucks the life out of everything and anything he touches. Just ask Orrell RFU about the housing estate he built on a 100 years of history, not Mr Wigan in there eyes, more like Conan The Destroyer.
