Is the World Cup fast becoming a joke

Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Didn't they pick him based on knowledge of his ancestry rather that he choose them? I don't know, genuine question.

He has never played for them before as far as I am aware so given his background, the choice was his.

What about Hansen? England schoolboy, played for NZ and now going to play for Samoa? Surely this is far more disloyal than Calderwood who as I said I don't think has ever played for Scotland?

My recollection and I am not 100% certain but pre the pull outs due to injury he was very pro Scotland and in an article talked about his Scottish ties etc.

I concur and I know everybody does it but it does not sit well personally when players switch nations like Hansen, Fasavalu etc.

I admire Giggs for never taking the easy option and playing for England rather than Wales.
Giggs never had the option of playing for the main England side. The reason he played for English schools team was that he was going to a school in England. He has no English heritage.

I think he was born in Wales, his dad is Jamaican and his mum is Welsh. People dont realise that to be fair. But he did also say if he had a choice hed play for Wales as he was Welsh

This implies the majority of your questions aren't!

I just wanted to make sure no one thought I was making a statement that they picked him, its called a "figure of speech".

That said why post the above derailing the thread?

I personally wished they hadn't split into home nations instead of GB. We weren't strong enough or had enough players to beat the Aussies with them intact as GB, even less now as they're all separate. The Aussies are still intact and have far more strength in depth than we have.

Would a GB team be that different to the current England team? there might be one or two changes, but not a significant number, I know Pat Richards would be in, and possibly Danny Brough, but I don't think a GB side would be significantly stronger.
