Maybe your megastore can employ HR staff to ensure you are safe. In small businesses most people are employed on gut instinct. The " do I want this person working for me. How does this person fit in. Benifit or hindrance." aspect of hiring is laden with problems. I am not racially predudiced but I am Christian. Not only Sunday but 7 days a week. That carries responsibilities with it to the church and God. Those responsibilities are now illegal. If I want a fellow Christian in my workplace to walk beside me it is illegal. If I employ a man because he has the physical attributes I require for a heavy and demanding job that too can be illegal. If I want a female secretary, office manager that too is illegal. The employer has very few legal rights. In your place of work that may not matter, in mine it was the key factor of me selling up and getting out. More and more small businesses are doing so. If you break the problem down to its component parts it is easily swept under the table. It is a system that a person is not responsible there has to be a reason. Discipline is illegal. There has to be a better way. Sorry that is not working. When a school master stands up and says cadets are a recruiting tool for the army he belittles the army. When you cannot tell the pupils from the teachers that does not install discipline. Physical punishment should be an option because it implies there is a code to be followed. Drugs are on there way up. Why because discipline means structure. Boredom breads antisocial behaviour. We do not have an infrastructure to cater for the needs of the next generation, why because we widen the gap between each generation. Our kids may be better educated but they are not equipped for life. I also ran youth clubs and did part time youth work for 15 years,

A agree with the youth issue its due to there being nothing for them to do. Or waht left to do is seen as being "uncool". However, it was the same for me when I was younger but didnt do drugs as i knew if I was found out with them I would get leathered off my father.

In respect to the empoyment, If you just treat everyone on merit and have a structured employment basis you cannot go wrong as everyone will be treated the same way and then you can choose from the way the pseron applied themselves.

PC isnt an issue for me however, do gooders are. People who say you cannot smack a child. I was smacked and it worked for me. I knew if I misbehaved I would be punished. Tbe people who say tell the child off as it works are barking up the wrong tree. I was told off by my mother and laughed then leathered off my father and didnt laugh. So for me it shows which 1 works.

Think I've gone off on a tangent now so will stop.

the psni(the police service for n.ireland)advertised for jobs with preferrence being given to females from the catholic/nationalist comunity..........dead fair for all the male protestants, jews or muslims who might want the job and are better qualified. p.c. does work it discriminates. we have a gay pride march in belfast every year ,i wonder what would happen if i asked the council if we could have a hetro pride day.oh and the polish are getting child benefit for kids that have never set foot in britian. makes you proud to be british

Pedro, i have to ask you about ths comment, your father being in the police will know that the entry standards for fitness for example have been reduced considerbly to meet with levels of those from differing ethnic backgrounds.

This to me is a concern not that we are brining in different cultures into the forces but the fact that we are diluting the standards of the force that im sure your father was put through when he first entered the force.

It is change for change sake as far as im concerned and not change for the better
still led to believe that GMp have only lowered it for women and not for men as its a basic standard.
