Kit releases

Post by shevington »

I personally feel that rugby clubs should only release new kits every 2 years.
With today's ecconomic climate as it is, i feel paying around £40 for a shirt that will only last a season is a bit steep. Especially for people who have kids who want the latest shirts too.. having to buy 3+ new shirts every year can become very costly.

Many football teams have their shirts for 2 years and the sales tend to benefit from this as supporters know they will have the latest shirt for at least 2 years.

Just a thought anyway

I agree, I thought they were only supposed to change every other year, perhaps changing the away strip in alternate years, but clubs will always have an excuse, change of sponsors or new kit manufacturer. I have several shirts , but the next one will have to really impress me to get me to buy it.

Simple economics, if the club can make more money by bringing out a new kit every year they will. It's not the club's decision whether parents buy the kits for their kids or not.

most aussie clubs only change the sponsor on the shirts, sydney roosters for example have had the same shirt design for many years but just change the sponsor...
