has anyone any preference for a replacement.Given the number of candidates available? Please dont say Paul Cullen!

2009 is a write off in terms of competitions. It will take half a season to rectify the damage. You have to sign somebody with current or very recent expertise in the highest quality competition and that is the NRL. By all means get some British assistants under them.

Even if you sign an NRL coach, the day he arrives his own learning environment starts to go backwards compared to other NRL coaches. The coach needs to leave after 3 years. If you appoint a British successor 6 months of that successors 3rd year as an assistant need to be spent Down Under getting the best INSET possible.

If you want a Michelin Star meal you employ a Michelin Star Chef not someone from a greasy spoon.

When Noble took over from Millward we had reached the stage where anyone would do.

If there are no obvious top flight coaches available at the moment I would not sign a second string coach on a long term deal just to get a coach with a recognised name.

If we do get to the stage it is "anyone but Noble" then I'd give to to Wane on a caretaker basis while we look for the right man without making a panic choice.

I wasn't over the moon when Mike Gregory was appointed Wigan coach, but look at the job he did with the kids.
Shaun Wane has grown up in the same mould and the same attitude as Mike Greg. He has the kids in the academy playing some great rugby. Give it to him until the end of the season. If things aren't working out:
1. We aren't going to be relegated.
2. We aren't going to go backwards from where we are now.
3. We have time to tap up a big name Aussie if they are coming out of contract.
4. We will see some Wigan lads playing for Wigan because they are deemed good enough, not because an overseas player is injured.
