Do you fancy playing RL in the south of France...?
If so read on...
2 years ago the then called Wigan Supporters XIII were offered a game in the South of France against supporters of the Catalan Dragons. The game was a great success even though the weather was terrible, everyone who played/attended the game enjoyed it. The game was a close contest withthe Catalan supporters coming out winners 12-8.
We have been offered and accepted a game again, this time the game is too be played on Easter Sunday with a 2pm KO locally.
We open this up to fans who are travelling over there who would fancy putting on the cherry and white shirt of the Riversiders and test yourself against the French. No matter what standard you are guaranteed to get a game. The details are below:
CATALAN DRAGONS SUPPORTERS V WIGAN RIVERSIDERS RLC
SUNDAY 12TH APRIL 2009
KICK OFF 2PM LOCAL TIME
LOCATION: ILLE SURE TETE RUGBY GROUND.
Also, Saddleworth under 15's will be playing against a local RL team, this kick offs before our game.
Ille sur Tet is the home of Jean Galia, and a little statue is erected there for him just inside the stadium there although it's not the best commemorative artifact in France, its a nice little aside to the game being in the stadium there.
A coach leaving the Castle in Perpignan around 1200pm,
There will be a live band, BBQ and plenty of beers during and after the match.
I believe there is not much to do/see in Perpignan on easter sunday, a lot of the bars close, so this is a perfect opprtunity for players and supporters to see some rugby league and have a few beers whilst doing so.
The cost is €15 per person - Includes: Coach, Match, BBQ and your First Beer.
If you are interested in players or just coming along to watch and cheer the lads on, then please post on this topic!
Cheers

You'd be brilliant, Gemma! I can just see you as an elusive half-back a la Rob Burrow...Nobby`s Girl wrote:I would love to be able to play rugby![]()
Don't think I'll be playing though, at my age I'd be knackered just tying up my boots!
