Match Reaction: Leeds 34 - Wigan 10

Post by ancientnloyal »

As they say: A shower of ____!

What justification does Bailey have to be in this squad? the number of knock-ons and handling errors by his squad tonight is shambolic. We created NOTHING and so got NOTHING. The last 2 games were a smoke screen this team is not good enough it showed against wakefield, castleford, hull part of quins and now leeds.

The dressing room is lost we are going nowhere and the longer this static goes on the more suffering and scewwed performances we will have. We will win nothing this year or next year we have no leader.

Good luck next week we will win 70-0.

ACTION IS NEEDED NOW!

never mind bailey what about our so called captain, just take a look at Leeds they have at least 3 players on the park who are capable of captaining the side. who from wigan would you say is fit to captain and lead the team coz olochlin clearly isnt capable, my 7 ye\r old daughter is more vocal than him.

its about time the wigan managment woke up and realised that shaun is not a captain and its time to give the captainship to another player.l

Loului for me is the only player who is stepping up at the mo

shoot me down but who else would you pick???????????????????

They met a leeds side on fire at home. Hock had a horror. Overplaying time and again. Bailey was lousy but concentration was not on the match. The number of good passes that went to players not expecting it showed up very clear. However two good trys were knocked off. The number of ball steals that leeds got away was a major factor. The team was in shock from the first twenty mins. However it was not as bad as you imply. The team is worth progressing with, Jim

As soon as Leeds scored their first try (complete with one of the many forward passes that blind man smith missed) I knew we were in for a long night. Generally, Wigan need to either score first or keep the opponents scoreless for twenty minutes. When that didn't happen we were always going to lose - this has been the pattern for the many drubbings that we have had to endure from the scouse scum.

Leeds played like they always do: fast POTBs when they were in possession and they spoiled and slowed the game down when we had the ball; by the time smith pulled the whistle out of his ar$e the game was gone. As an aside; JJB is rapidly becoming the dirtiest player in SL (watch out pryce!) and seems unable to roll away from the tackle; a few trips to the bin would definitely not be unnecessary.

That said; smith's performance (rubbish as it was) had no bearing on the result. Our completion rate was diabolical. Just about every player in the team dropped the ball tonight - many more than once. Our tackling and reading of the play wasn't too special either. As soon as we were two scores down we seemed to be trying to play panic football which led to more mistakes; which meant more energy sapping defence, more missed tackles and more points conceded.

Whilst the last two games have been steps forward; this one sees us firmly back to square one. Worst still; you can pretty much guarantee that Noble will take it as a signal to make wholesale changes - which means Mather and Phelps back in the side.

The fact remains that it is time for Noble to leave and the potential of the squad will not be realized until this takes place. On the plus side, cullen is now employed and so we won't go from bad to worse

Garbage

Last week just papered over the HUGE cracks.

Were far too inconsistent and we can blame other factors such as referees and video referees but we keep taking 1 step forward 3 steps back.

We fail to do the basics on far too many occcasions e.g catch and tackle.

Until this is sorted we are lightyears away from challenging consistently. But then again trophies aren't given out in March. :sly:

Well I suppose we could console ourselves with the fact that Leeds had one of those nights were they got everything their way including the officials!!

Not too fussed to be honest, we're young good young kids and trying to play good rugby. Our handling and completion was awful but if we keep trying to play week in and week out we'll find our consistency. The officials had a mare and against a World Class team like Leeds if they get an inch they'll take a mile.
I don't mind losing due to poor execution when we are very much a work in progress, I'd take that any day over losing to Wakey and Cas due to lack of passion
