Whelan wont be paying a penny for sponsership of that stadium, you mark my words, hence why our team ended up in so much Fincial trouble due to JJB paying not alot for sponsership!

Is DW also sponsoring Lactics next season as well:

Taken from BBC Website
Wigan owner Dave Whelan is ready to turn down a £1m shirt sponsorship deal from a Norwegian TV company to advertise his own new business.

It makes sense to me that he would have DW on the latics shirts too... it will promote his new DW Fitness Leisure Centres and the DW Sports stores.
Turning down 1million to have his own businesses name on the shirts is a good move as it will give his new business the exposure it will need to survive.

and can any of you honestly say that you wouldnt like your own stadium with your name on it?

At the end of the day I couldn't care less what name Mr Whelan gives the stadium, for me it's Robin Park and it always will be.

just wait until their next rents... their retail division has gone tits up apparently they are poor at paying on time for sports goods and so only get second-rate items. Nike Adidas etc grade stores and only want their products in stores that pass their criteria... stores that fail get bog-standard adidas or nike goods which means less turnover-profit etc...

as i said wait until june i think when they need to pay next for their rents. DW has got in it for himself not JJB, he has his profitable bit now which he will grow again rebranded.

While it's easy to paint Mr Whelan as having too big an ego, the reality is that on balance he has been good for Wigan. Let's not forget the bail out of a bankrupt Rugby League club, and financial support over many years. He may not have had RL at his heart recently, but I for one won't damn him forever, in spite of last season's debacle over the home game that wasn't.
However, the actual stadium, whatever it's called, is very good and the envy of many - be grateful you aren't a Saints fan!

And in the long term let's live in the real world. The round ball's experiment with premiership football won't last for more than a few more years. Then Wigan's great legacy of Rugby League success will continue with fewer "pitch invasions" from the dark side.

No football club of any kind has enjoyed the success of our great club. Let's always be grateful for that.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is concerned spiralling levels of debt will send a top-flight club out of business in the near future.

"The debt in the Premier League is horrendous. We (Wigan) have got our debt down to somewhere near £15m, it's serviceable and we can look after that.

"Foreign owners will borrow money in the name of the club and will leave the club in debt. Man United owe £750m, Liverpool £500m and Chelsea owe a lot of money too.
