Can Wigan make it to the top

Post by highland convert »

Can Wigan make it to the top with the team that is in place at the moment? From the answers on here I take it the answer is no. So why does the site go spare if a n"nearly" player is moved on or goes out on loan? Mathers is gone (I think he will come back to haunt us.) Someone else is for the off. Loan or release. Having listened to the stream of abuse from a [/i]fan on Sunday maybe it is an eliment of the support that is Wigan's poison challase. It certainly would not tempt me to try harder if that type of retoric was being played behind me.
Noble- useless get rid!
Mathers - useless get rid
Roberts - Lazy Australian muney grabber
Goulding - poor hard done to send him out on loan
Fielden - useless hasbeen waste of salerycap
Fika - fat and unfit
Riddell -fat and unfit
Smith bipolar drunkard
Gleeson money grabbing drunken troublemaker
Hock - goes walkabout does not turn up for training
Prescott hit or miss hard done to
Pryce unfit, lost his bottle
Coley useless
Phelps should not have been signed in the first place

You catch my drift. These are the lads you expect to put their bodies on the line for Wigan Warriors. On Sunday the atmosphere was terrific. We had a great day out. We won. We came away injury free according to the official site. We cheered our team and theirs. Those WW supporters stood up and were counted. Needless to say the grouser behind me stormed out the gate as soon as the whistle sounded.
Key players will be back in position on thursday. I hope we win. However win or loose of the first post match threads 4 of the first 6 will be to pull the team to bits if current stats on here are anything to go by.

I don't think so. If we win, or even get close, we'll see even cp being positive!

I'm not confident, though...

Not really.

There isn't one fan on this board who will go to the Saints game to slag any player off.

Once the game is over we will all have our own opinions of who played well and who didn't and we will no doubt discuss it on here which is what this place is for.

While your list exaggerates the complaints made about the various players on it, unfortunately few on it are beyond criticism (which is part of why we are P8, W3, L5) but you won't find anyone who thinks all of them are bad as that.

What are you suggesting? We never criticise?

Every now and again certain players get picked on unfairly by some posters. Higham was one last year IMO. But most of the time people have reasoned debate about players and how they perform. It only gets pointless when views become polarised i.e. they can do wrong or can do no right. Few people adopt those positions on players IMO.

They will get pulled to bits if they capitulate and we lose by a cricket score (again). If we don't they won't.

Coley is useful and streets ahead of Prescott from what I have see. Bailey hopefully will slot into second row where he is more effective. The others I agree with. We need a beast. A fozzard who will stop you or die trying. You know you have met him. There seems to be a need for a good conditioning coach. Look at Newton now and when he left Wigan. Cunningham as well seems better conditioned. On the whole Wigan could be better conditioned. It seems still to be those that prepare the players that are failing. Hot and cold week after week. Looking shattered when the game is only half way through. The Barrow boys matched the team conditionwise and thats as part timers.

Wigan can make it to the top if we;
Let Brian Noble go now so that we will have the players in place for a new start next season. I am not as scathing of Nobby as some people on here but i do think hes gone as far as he can.Get rid immediately of Fielden,Smith and Phelps. Out on loan if anybody will have them. The backs dont look too bad otherwise although Sam needs someone to give him a break. I am his biggest fan but he is not ready for the no 6 shirt every week yet, particularly as our forwards do not give him enough protection.Lockyer for the next season and a half would be the perfect answer but that is not going to happen so Mcgoldrick would be the answer as he is underated imo.
Prescott and O carroll have been given enough chances and need to move on,o carroll has a big heart but not powerful enough and Prescott is just Coley without the experience.
Neither hooker is breaking any pots but Riddell has to be given a chance,he was certainly good enough in the NRL.Mcilorum not good enough, offers us nothing and compared with other 9s in Super League he is way down the list.Bailey will go when his conract expires as hes had his best days.
We need a Full back,2 props,a 6,a hooker,a running second rower and a loose forward.Apart from that we are in good order.
