seems i'm the only one who thinks this wouldn't be the worst idea. i don't particularly like him and he's a bit passed his best but he's still got plenty to offer and would have provided the little things we've been missing the last two games.
i acknowledge there are several better options but if none of them come off this wouldn't be the worst thing for 1 year.

Saints are reported to be after Dobson as Long's replacement - which of the two would you prefer us to sign?yoda warrior wrote:seems i'm the only one who thinks this wouldn't be the worst idea. i don't particularly like him and he's a bit passed his best but he's still got plenty to offer and would have provided the little things we've been missing the last two games.

i would prefer dobson, didn't know he was available. i did acknowledge there are better options. i was rounded on by some on here at the weekend when i said dobson was the best half back in super league. dobson would be my preferred half, ahead of orford and indeed anyone else you could mention.GeoffN wrote:yoda warrior wrote:seems i'm the only one who thinks this wouldn't be the worst idea. i don't particularly like him and he's a bit passed his best but he's still got plenty to offer and would have provided the little things we've been missing the last two games.

i was only making the point that if none of the rumoured deals come off(orford etc) and smith leaves, long would be a bettere option than what we would have left. without question he is still a better half than leuleui.

Problem is Long doesnt want just one year, or he would take that option at Saints.yoda warrior wrote:seems i'm the only one who thinks this wouldn't be the worst idea. i don't particularly like him and he's a bit passed his best but he's still got plenty to offer and would have provided the little things we've been missing the last two games.

i've heard it rumoured that the deal we've offered is a 1 year playing contract and then onto the coaching staff for a year.Panchitta Marra wrote:Problem is Long doesnt want just one year, or he would take that option at Saints.yoda warrior wrote:seems i'm the only one who thinks this wouldn't be the worst idea. i don't particularly like him and he's a bit passed his best but he's still got plenty to offer and would have provided the little things we've been missing the last two games.

Probably as good as Tim Smith in most departments.
Could be a good assist to Sam T.
If a two year option comes his way, I think he will take it, and I could see Cas, Wakey, or even Quins offering Long this two year contract.
