Celtic v Wigan
Re: Celtic v Wigan
Are we a 2 man team? Time to stand up and be counted.
Re: Celtic v Wigan
12-6 at HT and our try was lucky by all accounts
Re: Celtic v Wigan
Sounds like it, yep. Seems Celtic are just getting the basics right on the back of a good kicking game. No spark in attack from us, although Ainscough came close.cpwigan wrote:Are we a 2 man team? Time to stand up and be counted.

Re: Celtic v Wigan
I'm at the game! Same old boring one man rugby, no backing up, no dummy runners, and kicks straight down their throat every time! Yawn yawn. Both their trys down smiths side. Gsnson not givng offside. But so far, the better team is winning. They want it more!
Re: Celtic v Wigan
The opening was fast and physical, with Celtic's seasoned campaigners Mark Bryant and Ryan O'Hara slugging it out with rival props Andy Coley and the workaholic Paul Prescott. Mark Riddell carved out Wigan's first real chance with a bulldozing, arcing run in the fifth minute but the Warriors failed to capitalise.
Celtic continued to give as good as they got, and when Ainscough threw a pass into touch inside Wigan's 20m, it gave the home side a solid scoring chance they couldn't take. The Crusaders were forcing the home side into making mistakes, and took the lead when Mark Lennon broke through the defence on the halfway to send over Jace Van Jiyk for a try.
Lennon's conversion made it 6-0 after 15 minutes, but that score seemed to act as a brief wake-up call to Wigan, who responded with a converted try of their own six minutes later – albeit in fortuitous circumstances.
Leuluai, who had already troubled Celtic with a midfield break, sliced a grubber kick through for Ainscough to chase, but the ball ricocheted off a Crusaders player and into the path of a grateful Harrison Hansen, who touched down unopposed. Richards made no mistake with the conversion.
A sweeping attack on the half-hour saw Ainscough go over, but not before placing a foot in touch, and Celtic countered superbly to re-take the lead two minutes later.
A chip-over by Van Dijk put the home side into a good position and, with many Wigan players still trudging back to get onside, the wily scrum-half's angled kick was coolly taken by Peter Lupton. Lennon again hit the conversion to make it 12-6.
