Hey come on!!!
Warrington haver had the best team on paper for the past three years and done jack!
Smith hasn't built this team, he just stopped the rot by getting rid of the source!!

I keep saying that Nobby has inhereted a team that was not good enough.
You all know how bad you was when Nobby took over from Millward, to be fare I think Wigan, under Nobby, probably over acheived the season after. Had you not have done so well then the steady improvement over Nobby,s time would be more appearent.

Give Nobby another two years with a full salery cap and you will be top 4 again. The deferred payments on Fielden's contract is the problem.
Its something that Nobby is having to work under but yet never has mentioned as the problem.
I tell you now that I don't know of another coach in SL who would not use this as an excuse, and its a valid excuse.

Get shut of your coach now and you will have to start the building process all over again.

As I believe it to be, Wigan has the same cap as every other team, but you have deferred payments on Fieldens contract for the first half season that he was at Wigan.
Appearently he was play that season for free and so was Radlinkski!....I think Rads un-wages may somehow be wrapped up in Fieldens non payments!!

That is your problem! :wink:

We got done as the RFL didnt accept the deferred wages and therefore fined us then. They then gave us an increased cap over the deferred period as other wise they would have accepted the deferred payment in one respect but refused it in another.

The amount we broke the cap with was broken down over the period eg 300 overspend was split over 3 year hence giving us an extra 100 a year something like that anyhow.

Exactly Pedro. We actually ended up with a bigger cap than the rest of the RL. N.B P n B

The impact of signing Gleeson is another matter. If the Gleeson family are to be believed, Martin is receiving little for 2009 but will become the highest paid player in SL, possibly world RL in 2010 to make up for the 2009 shortfall.

I think last night's result could be seen as a turning point for the club in a number of ways. From what I have seen (and I have only seen half Wigan's games this year), they have a number of problems:
- we are not fit enough to keep up our intensity for long enough - frankly, Piggy and Smith are a disgrace in this respect;
- we have the wrong balance between play makers and workers/runners. Sam T and Smith are the only ones who can organise the team in combination;
- we have numerous overseas players not appreciably better than local boys but play them anyway; and
- We lack enthusiasm, save when the young Wiganers pep us up.
I also watch a lot of the Quins. I know everyone on here dismisses them as rubbish, but they get a lot out of what they have got. In all of the above respects they are far better than Wigan (plus kicking game). Orr is so much better than Tommy at 7 it is ridiulous.
Wigan have to dispense with Noble as he is responsible for pretty much all of the above problems, most of which can be fixed. I would like a seasoned NRL coach (their clubs are so far ahead of SL it is ridiulous). Failing that, Brian McDermott and his entire back room staff. If he get Quins in the top 4 he can win things at Wigan. Plus he is the best bet to get more out of Fielden, having played with him. Please no Shaun Wane. Lovely lad but nowhere near the brains to run the most famous name in RL.
From a wider perspective if this win boosts Celtic the whole game could benefit in years to come.

Quins go second if they win their games in hand. Randall is awesome cant even compare him to piggy. I said before Orr is better than Tommy but got ridiculed. I remember Orr murdering him for Wigan when we played Quins.

One problem we have is we are not very good at playing catch up when we fall behind we are clueless. We stick to a poor gameplan and it never pays off. We get some success when we play off the cuff but its rare.

Interesting story but utter rubbish
5.3.1
Time of Actual Payment, ie whether or not a payment is actually made or a benefit is actually provided by the Club to the Player in the relevant Salary Cap Year. Instead, what is relevant is the date when the payment or benefit Accrues to a Player.

Comment to Clause 5.3.1: For example, if a Club contracts to pay a Player £25,000 for services rendered in one Salary Cap Year, that £25,000 shall be included in the
calculation of the Player’s Salary Cap Value for that Salary Cap Year even if the Player agrees to the Club ‘deferring’ or ‘carrying over’ the actual payment of that
£25,000 into a subsequent Salary Cap Year.
Wigan could have deferred Fieldens wages over a number of years but all those payments would count on the salary cap for the first season we signed him, and Wigan already got punished for that.

I had a feeling this would be a banana skin for you.
Losing quality players to England at a time when you play Celtic away.
You have a shallow squad, so you will bounce back with a full compliment next week:exc:
Hock, is your best player. Tompkins has been impressive and Lockers was a blow.
But these lads are a vital part of your team!
thats the first time i have agreed with you p-ost for a lonfg time apart from your first sentance
