He needed to get a grip from the start niggling tackles head high shots all went unnoticed by him and his linesmen, disgraceful reffing
totaly agree mate but he was bad 4 both teams
Few things that need to be said:

Kirkpatrick ref'ed like he was drunk, stupid or both. Leeds stripped the ball several times and actually looked at the ref to see if they had been caught. They weren't

The 10 metre rule was just not an issue. Leeds didn't make it back 10 all night. This meant that Wigan could not mount a serious attack.

The amount of cheap shots on Wigan players (Dallas especially) was disgusting - once Leeds worked out they could get away with it, they just did it even more. Wigan responded in kind on a couple of occasions because of frustration.

I think it was consistent with a lot of the refereeing this year. I personally think that Cummins was probably the worst referee that I ever had to endure - anyone remember the England vs Australia World Cup Final at Wembley? Brad Fittler got away with what can only be called a "closeline" and stayed on the pitch. So why they put him in charge is mystery.

The best referee has gone to Australia and the vast majority of those that remain are unfit to referee under 14s. Something needs to be done and soon - as when neutrals complain (and fair play to them for coming out and saying it) that a referee was biased to the team that are top of the table then there clearly is a serious problem

That good ref that went to Aus wouldn't be the same one that gave the Aussies all those penalties at the start of the Tri-Nations Final would it?

I was disgusted with Smith at the time - couldn't wait to penalise us then march us back 10 yards. What a coincidence he is now where he is!!!

I get as angry with the referees as the next person when I'm at the match but I do sympathise with them. Human error and uncertainty makes them miss things and if they miss two in a row they're called biased. I don't think the referees really deserve as much stick as they get, to say they are biased is a bit much in my opinion.

The main problem is not using the resources available to their fullest potential. Touch judges very rarely flag for offside or forward passes, are the referees frightened they look underminded if he flags or something?

Another thing is communication between players, coaches, referees and the RFL. The referees seem to go through fads of clamping down on daft things, like play-the-balls last season and mouthing off this season. In my opinion these are unimportant compared to the amount of forward passes (Leeds especially) and high tackles that players get away with. Surely they should listen to the coaches concerns on a regular basis and improve the game on their recommendations.

I've just been told that Ganson has officially apologised to Leigh over an incorrect decision regarding a kick to touch that he gave as a handover instead of a scrum.

You're right Rob - we all slag them off but we'd be knackered without them.

Smith may have had a shocker at the tri-nations - but can you name a better ref?

Kirkpatrick, Silverwood - Ganson? How many of you just shuddered?

If I put in a performance at my job like Kirkpatrick did on Friday night I would be sacked

Joke - A bloke lets a genie out of a bottle. The genie gives him 2 wishes but warns him that whatever he askes for, KK will get double. First he askes for £1 million. The genie says "you understand that KK will get £2 million?" The bloke says "yes". The genie asks him what his 2nd wish is. The bloke says "Could you batter me half to death please"

When I saw the shambles Ganson allowed on the pitch a few weeks ago, I assumed he was heavily biased. After watching Kirkpatrick on Friday, I have come to the conclusion is it is just gross incompetence in the pool of referees. The time has come for full time refs, because as it stands these 'part timers' are seriously damaging the game we love.

League will never grow to be the worldwide sport we want it to be, without teams being given an chance to compete on a level playing field.
