Carl Webb
Last nights Wigan Observer stated that Webb is awaiting an official offer from Wigan. His manager said that unless this was forthcoming then his client would need to look at other options!
This guy is a cracking prop forward - just the type we are looking for.
Come on IL get the chequebook out.

Re: Carl Webb
Dont panic Mr Mannering its only his agent talking up the price.
Re: Carl Webb
I made the point on RLFans that they seem desperate to get rid of him and palm him off to Wigan.
I especially think that after reading they have 3 off contract props who they'd like to keep but can't afford to without releasing Webb.

Re: Carl Webb
Suposedly pretty tough cookie.
From Wikipedia:
"In 2005, Webb had a strong start to the season, earning a position in the Queensland Maroons. Injury impeded his season and he was later suspended for punching, forcing him to finish his year on the sidelines.
In 2007, Webb again started the season strongly, but suffered a broken jaw early in the season. He returned to the field in round 8.
In May, 2008 Webb played in his debut test for the Australian national team against New Zealand.
On 20 May 2008 Webb re-signed with the Cowboys until the end of the 2010 season, a contract rumoured to be worth around $AU300,000 a year. 1
He was named in the Australia training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup,[1] but was not selected to play."
Has some bad luck with injuries plus suspect to indiscipline.

Re: Carl Webb
This is trhe interesting bit from the related news item:
"The Cowboys have always said they would consider releasing Webb from the final year of his contract if interested English Super League club Wigan tabled an offer.
But the silence has been deafening from Wigan since their chairman, Ian Lenagan, visited Townsville to watch Webb play last month."
When IL came back from Oz he said on GMR they went over to look at certain players but while there decided they were not suitable.
Does the "silence" referred to above suggest Webb was one such player? I see no reason not to move for a player if he was a target and everything checked out OK so if we have not made a move maybe he is one of those chalked off the list?

Re: Carl Webb
wouldn't be like us though to leave it to late and miss the boat, and have nothing left to sign but the dregs, and those old enough to get there pension from the nrl,we always leave our recruiting to late.
