That may be so but it might be an idea to do some sort of investigation not in mitigation of Hock but for the clubs own benefit to understand the circumstances behind this.

Dave
Let me guess, I'm young, got a shed load of money-I know I'll get off my face.

The club has no obligation to indulge in social science just run a pro rugby club-not a drug rehab service for n'r dowells.
Where did I suggest they should do that?

You obviously didn't read my post properly. I am sure the club is not naive enough to assume Hock is definitely the only idiot in the ranks. I am not suggesting we have other players doing likewise but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility we have is it?

So therefore it is in the clubs interest to investigate what went on and decide if there is anything to be done to help prevent it happening again such as introducing a drug testing regime at the club.

Or they could just forget about it, put it down to the "I'm young, got a shed load of money-I know I'll get off my face." thing and ignore it.

Until the next player does it and we have all the negative publicity and implications of another senior player getting a two-year ban that is.

It is in the clubs interest to react to this event beyond simply sacking Hock because like it or not, many young RL players are not the brightest sparks and may well be as easily led as Hock appears to have been.

So they can either be pro-active or wait for the next Hock situation to develop. The club would be publicly crucified if we had a repeat siltation next season and it had done nothing.

Wigan Warriors should sit Gareth down and make 2 statements to him (asuming sample B fails)

A. You will never play for Wigan Warriors again , you have let the club , fans and most inportantly yourself down .

B. We are here to help you in any shape or form and for as long as it takes . You have given a large chunk of your life to this club we are not going to walk away when you need us most . We are here to help if you want us too .
Thats a bit of a contradiction, first we do not want him and he is not part of our plans. Then we will help you.? Doesnt make sense to me.
Its called "Duty of Care".
We are all responsible for this in some way.
Duty of care on applies if he is still employed. Wigan cannot tear up his contract if they wish to help him with the duty of care which will mean he is covered under the DDA like a alcoholic.

As Dave says the club need to learn how to minimise this happening again.

Ultimately though you cannot prevent / eradicate it 100% IMO.
Sorry but if Millward did introduce testing at saints he wasnt testing for cocaine because MOD: Deleted. You can't say things like that.

Apologies if this has been posted earlier but i do not want to go thru pages of posts.

Is the B test sample taken at the same time as the A test or is the B test done at a later date? If B test is later surely there is a chance it may have left his system?

I am not wishing to explore a loophole just trying to understand how this testing system works.

My understanding is that the A and B samples are taken at the same time.

I think its taken at the same time, the B is just a back up sample incase anything comes back on the A sample, in order to rule out contamination...

the way I understand it is...player gives one sample but in two bottles(or whatever they do it in) if anything is found in the A sample then they do a more rigorous test on the B sample
