Not just Nobby to go

Post by Webby1971 »

Not only does Nobby need to go but a couple more as well, heres my reasons- Nobby - Nice bloke but a Bradford man through and through and a proud Yorkshire man. Veivers - Average player with the scousers. Mike Forshaw - Fired off by Wigan when young and was very bitter against the club and was only brought in when Nobby put the stop on Steve Hampson taking that job (which he had been promised by Maurice Lyndsay)FACT. So the point I'm making is that none of the above have Wigan heart unlike Radders, Wane, Pendlebury and cannot have the same passion. We need a coach who has and lets face it there's a few out there. Shaun Edwards, Mike Ford, Ellery Hanley, Dennis Betts, Steve Hampson, Adrian Lam, Andy Farrell (not as head coach yet but in some capacity)& bring his son with him. We should build a coaching team of ex players who were once proud to were the cherry & white. Final point - We should never have sacked Stuart Raper, he was doing a great job and bringing the youngsters through and giving them a chance, we had a bit of a sticky patch, not half as bad as Noble has had and he was shown the door????

The whole staff needs an overhaul Webby. One of the problems with Noble is that he likes his ego stroking and surrounds himself with Yes men which is neither use nor ornament. I would go as far as to say Wane is the only member of the coaching staff who should be retained. Ray Unsworth was a very good appointment but as you say there needs to be a real injection of talent off the field.

A fundamental problem re Wigan is that we have a power crazy coach and a power crazy owner, both of who love having their egos stroked.

Problem is we cannot wait. After the semi against Warrington will be the opportunity to clear the boards and start the rebuilding for next season. We cannot do it in the short off season break of 4 months.
I'd like to go to Wembley but doubt that we will.

Mike Ford...give over defence coach at England as its defense had more holes in it than a dart board. (used one)

Raper was going to leave anyway for his dream job back in Oz. He made that known to the club so they just decided to get someone else in earlier.

Judging by thestatistics shown on the Boots 'n All Thread, there are a few coaches which, with hindsight, we could have hung on to!

Well Raper was off anyway but looking at the stats it is interesting how little a coach needed to do wrong results-wise for us to get shut.

Noble is very lucky DW sold up to IL or he would have gone already.

With the right coach and conditioner there is no reason Wigan could not reach Wembley, even with only 6 weeks to the Semi's.
I think even without Gaz Hock we still have a squad of players to chose from to pick a team that could achieive this.
With Noble & Forshaw still here, I dont think this will happen.
Continual poor team selections with unacceptable fitness/conditioning levels will be the deciding factor.
Surely Lenehan knows all this, however, still choses to continue with Noble & Co in one of our best chances for silverware in many a year.

Ive never been a told you so, but I told everyone when Forshaw was first signed as fitness and conditioner we were in trouble! I have many Wire friends a few with good contacts in the club, and they all said the greatest move they ever did was to get rid of Forshaw, and straight away the players were feeling better and stronger!!
