Re: Noble
Over the last two seasons nobby has got us into play offs and each time time we have almost made the final? that is a good record in my book. This season we have had a really bad start but our record over the last few games has been really good if you discount our trip to wales. I beleive we have to keep faith wih nobby unless a realy exclent couch comes up, I am sure we will make the challenge cup final and with a litle bit of luck the grand final also so who can say that is a bad season
Re: Noble
And by what rationale do you discount the Celtic game? We'd be out of the cup if you discount the Salford game.nellywelly wrote:Over the last two seasons nobby has got us into play offs and each time time we have almost made the final? that is a good record in my book. Our last six league games are W3 L3. I don't call that "really good".

But even if you look at performances rather than results, there's no improvement. Yes, we played reasonably well on Friday (first half, at least), but you have to go back to the Murrayfield win for our last good performance. We look good for parts of games, but rarely for whole games, which is sometimes good enough to scrape a win, but more often not.nellywelly wrote:I still have the faith and I believe we are getting beter and stronger I know the results dont back me up but if you watch the games again you can see this.Dont right us off just yet get behind the team and Nobby and just see what might be
How many games this season can you say we've played well for 80 minutes? One? Two? Certainly no more than that.

I still say lets wait and see, I still think we have a good chance of winning the challange cup and getting into the grand final. Nobby has one of the best records for getting the best out of his teams in the last quarter of the season. Though if what is being said about injurys is true it will take a monumental task for us to reach the grand final we will miss Lockers,Hansen and McIllorum
Re: Noble
And just to add that injuries are no excuse. We've been regularly beaten this season by sides with worse injury problems than ours - Wakefield & Celtic for example.nellywelly wrote:I still say lets wait and see, I still think we have a good chance of winning the challange cup and getting into the grand final. If Nobby had been bringing the fringe players through as other coaches do with theirs, they'd be better able to step in when needed. As it is, six of our first team squad still have little or no experience at this level.

And you think maybe a short term Aussie Coach would make the clubs long term Youth Policy his priority?GeoffN wrote: If Nobby had been bringing the fringe players through as other coaches do with theirs, they'd be better able to step in when needed. How much is Brian Noble stifling our youth at Wigan in comparison with top of the League Saints
season 2009 appearances
Wigan Players 21 and under .
Michael McIllurum AGED 21 ----21 apps no tries
Sam Tomkins aged 20---------- 12 apps 6 tries
Shaun Ainscough aged 20 ------11 apps 13 tries
Joel Tompkins is 22
Sam Tomkins only made one appearance prior to this season scoring 4 tries against Whitehaven
Not sure how games played prior for Shaun Ainscough.
Compared with Saints including sub spot
Kyle Eastmund aged 20 --------8 apps 6 tries
Chris Dean aged 21 -----------3 apps 3 tries
Gareth Frodsham aged 20-------2 apps
Gary Wheeler aged 20 ---------10 apps 8 tries
Matty Ashurst aged 20---------15 apps 1 try
Tom Armstrong aged 20---------4 apps 2 tries
Jonny Lomax aged 19 ----------3 apps 2 tries
Jacob Emmitt aged 21 ---------3 apps
All the above have played SL games prior to this season.
