Good signing for the Giants. He is still a very good player and will give them the experience of big matches like cup finals etc which is missing from the Huddersfield side.

I wonder why, when the topic of Wigan letting players leave gets dragged up every now and again and certain names get bandied about as being mistakes to have let go, Gilmour isn't one of them?

The vast majority of usual names that crop up were not that good. Gilmour has held down first team places in successful Bradford and Saints sides and has a bag full of winners medals to show for his efforts.
