Consistency of officials language terminology

My Favourite call is "MOVE", what good does that bloody do?, who should move?, attacker move?, defender move?, one of my gripes aswell is when ref's say "leave him!" to defenders when the attacker is still pushing forward.

Shouting PLAY ..... could either be play on or play the ball.

Shouting HELD it's obvious that the tackle has been made.

Waving your hands in the air to seemingly indicate 'get up' could easily be taken as 'get up and play the ball' or get up and carry on'. As far as I know, an encouraging wave of your hand isn't a standard sign for play the ball is it?

Why award a pen for an obvious mistake/confusion when there are far more serious (and advantageous to the offending team) things that should be penalised.

Correct. For a situation where it's just confusion, as that was, he should just be made to move back and play it. A penalty should only be when the player deliberately moves forward.

Maybe that is why he is only Reserve Referee on Sunday in the Saints game?

If i was honest about the refereeing standards these days since they beacame fulltime professionals ( i laugh with derision)

I do not think the standards of referring have advanced any in over 40 odd years i have been watching our great game

Referees make mistakes just as we all do from time to time

But referees make more of them
