All the players that are under performing i dont need to say who they are .
A John Kear or Saun McRae type of coach would probably bring more out of them and give them anew lease of life.
We cant change the players but we can change the coaching set up.

Re: In and Out
[quote="MrDave"]Since the season is pretty much over now; I been thinking who should go, who needs to stay and who needs to come to Wigan.
OUT
Amos Roberts
It might only be his first season but an experienced NRL winger shouldn't be struggling to catch a ball. Most of the time he doesn't seem interested in playing for Wigan, perhaps if Noble dropped him and played Ainscough for a while Roberts might realise he has to try abit harder. Personally I would just get rid and go with Ainscough, like I mentioned elsewhere same weakness as Roberts but much better in attack.
Ainscough is not ready. Individually he was good but still not in Roberts class. Any player can have a bad spell or could be carrying a knock.
Stuart Fielden
How long have we been waiting for "the return of the real Stuart Fielden" abit too long in my opinion. He might do a lot of tackling but is partially useless in attack. Wigan could spend his wages on someone cheaper and better, there are plenty of better props than Fielden in the Super League.
He is here. He does a job but lacks the fire. But how do you justify spending 8k a game on one player and let him carry the water.
Iafeta Paleaaesina
I'm starting to think his 10 'blast spells' were much better than his 20 minutes of doing nothing that we have now. Warrington highlighted his inability to defend and he had only some come on the pitch. Much like Fielden offers very little in attack at the moment but doesn't do any defending either.
Send him elsewhere with a cnditioning coach and we will regret it bigtime
Thomas Leulaui
Is not a decent scrum half and defiantly not a decent hooker. A good opportunist try scorer but so is Sam Tomkins and Sam offers a much better all-round game than Tommy. Sam needs to be paired with a half back who is more of a play-maker.
Check out MoM's Lulu has turned a lot of games for us. Sometimes he was outplayed but that is due to credit to the other side
Brian Noble
His time must be up now. Time to bring in a proper coach who will get the best out of the talented young players in the team.
He is a proper coach. Its a small section of fans that make the players jumpy. Time to realise that fans jearing their own team can upset them. If I was an Ozzy star reading this forum I would not come.
TO STAY
Paul Prescott
Probably Wigan's best prop at the moment and at the age of 23 he has plenty of rugby ahead of him. Is excellent in attack and puts in some good tackles when defending, unlikely Fielden he doesn't go 'looking' for tackles but he makes them when he needs to.
You have to be kidding. If he lines up with Feka the gap is a mile wide. Metre for metre no better than Fielden. Coley outclasses him by a country mile..
Sam Tomkins
Goes without saying...the lad is very talented.
He will come on or fade. Another Burrows but the big boys learn to deal with them. He will go through a steep learning curve next season. Burrows lived through it but some don't. Hopefully sam will. Watching Eastman in the CC he lost the plot. Sam certainly outshone him against wire.
Joel Tomkins
Not the finished article but he has an excellent attacking game and is not bad in defence either. With a good coach helping him he would be by far the best second row in super league.
The jury is out on that one. Mistake prone at the moment.
Mark Flanagan
Does as much defending as O'Loughlin but is still effective in attack so perhaps O'Loughlins days are numbers if the team is picked on form.
Early days but it will take a lot to displace Lockers, Our best player pre injury.
Lee Massop
Should be developed into a prop and replace Stuart Fielden. Already better than Fielden just needs to have a long spell in the first team.
Mike McIlorum
Before he got injured he was best hooker in the Wigan team. Really improved a lot this season and the team seemed to play a lot better with him on the pitch. If Mike hadn't got injured I think Wigan's attacking play would be a lot better than it has been.
Again Riddell is a class above. We are now seeing the Riddell we hired and he will go higherIN

Re: In and Out
Jim them assesments are just crazy. To say Prescott is only performing as well as Fielden is laughable.
You are right Ainscough isnt in the same class as Roberts he is in a higher one from what they have both shown this season.
Riddell isnt a patch on where MM was pre injury either.
All these are from what I have seen anyway so far.

Re: In and Out
Having just registered to the site, I think Wigan lack cover at half back and a decent forward who can give guidance to the younger players. Sam was having to do too much on Saturday and although we have lost Smith, with no further signings due what happens if Sam gets injured as we have struggled in not having a half on the bench in recent weeks.
As for the forwards, a better coach did a job on Feka on Saturday, whilst Fielden again failed to turn up. Noble has had his hand forced into having to play the kids and they have responsed well. I just wonder if he would have the balls to drop Fielden if O Carroll was fit.
For me we need a half back to provide cover who doesn't necessarily has to play each week e.g Stacey Jones and a forward who can guide the young lads e.g Puletua.

Fielden is meant to be doing a job for Wigan similar to what Peacock and Morley do for Leeds and Wire respectively. Prescott and Coley are by far Wigan's best props but Wigan could really do with a player like Morley, Peacock or Puletua.
Smith and Tomkins would have been a far better combination that Tomkins and Leuluai or Smith and Leuluai because Smith and Tomkins both bring something different to the game. Unfortunately Smith had a huge defensive weakness but Wigan should look to sign a player similar to Smith but with better defence.
Like Porksville highlighted there is a lack of cover in the half backs so the signing of a new half backs should be a priority for Lenagan and use Lualuai as a cover for half back or hooker.
Re: In and Out
I cant believe he re-signed Tommy. He isnt a half back and we have hookers already. Silly really.
Re: In and Out
Not a bad post MrDave pretty much agree, although I wouldn't touch Jeffires with a bargepole, he's one of those players that can look great one minute then be a complete craphouse the next.
It is clear from this thread that people are willing to accept mediocrity, I'm sure Shevi for life and HC are on a long running wind up. If you havent noticed we have actually performed better with the younger players in that Nobby seemed reluctant to pick. We made Lee Briers look like a world class halfback on Saturday and looked like we had no ideas in attack. The idea that Noble hasn't had long enough is pathetic, Nathan Brown doesn't seem to have struggled too much at Huddersfield does he? Their performance against Saints was a prime example of the importance of a good coach and a good gameplan, unfortunately we have neither. Wake up and smell the coffee, I can see Jim in particular spouting the same nonsense in 3 years time when we still haven't won anything.

Gareth Thomas before his first game: "You wanna spend 10 mins getting smashed up by these guys..Big dudes here.."

I've been told that Jeffries was signed for Celtic Crusaders for next season.gpartin wrote:Not a bad post MrDave pretty much agree, although I wouldn't touch Jeffires with a bargepole.
