Exactly Slim. Sad to say but he showed no enthusiasm at all. There is a lad playing called Jonny Walker not blessed with half of the physical advantages of KP yet he never shirks for effort.

Lets face facts. We never welcomed Mathers or Pryce. In fact they must feel like outcasts. Does any other set of fans give their own team so much stick. Little wonder Pryce is playing with such lack of enthusiasm. I woulld hate to play for Wigan. On the Friday game on Sky I could hear the background fanfare given to Mathers every time a high bomb came his way. Trouble was I could hear the same thing when he played for us. The fans attitude (a minority I would hope) stinks. If a player has a problem let the coaching staff sort it out. Don't compound it by destroying that players confidence and moral. Maybe Roberts and Fielden wpuld have been rested by now if the fans had not been on their backs. Noble can't while the baying continues because it could destroy that player. It would also be seen as giving in to fan preasure.

Pryce was backed to the hilt when he arrived.

Professional sportsmen have to be mentally tough. Whatever fans scream is nothing compared to the sledging they get from fellow pros.

I think it is the perceived lack of effort and enthusiasm whick sparks the fans negative responses. Lets face it, Richards took a lot of stick in his first season. Look at him now. His kicking is off form at present, but the crowd is still behind him!

I couldn't agree more, mate. Some so-called fans get on the back of a player before they have even played a game for us. Certain players are transformed when supporters actually "support" the players. Kevin Brown is a case in point.

please dont try and tell me Karl Pryce doesnr deserve the negativity. Hes an embarrasment to the club

Gemma you actually inadvertently summed up what makes a professional player. They have an innner self belief, confidence, ego call it what you want that they are not like the people on the terraces. They can and want to go to battle on the field of play, they want the buzz from playing well, winning and they are prepared to take the rough with the smooth. Most think fans are idiots 'on the quiet' because they cannot do what they do and as such cannot criticise them. Trust me ANY player who is broken by fans was not meant to play the game professionally.

Personally, I think many fans have a romantic notion of what the game of rugby league is about. It is harsh/cruel and the mental stress of fearing being beaten / being beaten badly makes people in the crowd shouting a walk in the park. Mental toughness is as if not more important than talent and if you haven't got it or have lost it you may as well retire/do something else.

As for personality. Players are people that means some a nice and decent and others are absolute swines. They go out at the weekend and some are quiet and nice, others are happy to have a ruck, they even fight between themselves. All of the above has happened in 2009.
