i wish him all the best fot the future

But tonight typified his time at Wigan, lacking ideas and composure when it mattered the most.

yes he has stabilised the club in some ways, but he also lacked the bottle to give the youth a chance and his on the clock subs / tactics have left many of us mystified /disappointed over the last 3 years or so.

What we need now is someone to really bring the kids through with quality imports / older players to support and guide them

I'll agree with you there a & l. He has done some good for us , but as we expect as fans to win trophys not quite enough. Yes we've made quite a few semis, but really we should have improved enough to get to a final by now.
Would like to thank Nobby, it's not an easy job and i would not want it for a gold pig.
Hope where ever he ends he does well

Aye, there's the rub!!

People are celebrating a man losing his job. None of them knows for sure who is replacement will be. So how can we be sure we will be any better placed next season?

Last 3 seasons have started badly while we give new players time to settle in. We have no new signings for next season. Do we give the new coach until Easter before we start expecting results?

Looks like its gonna be same old, same old!!

Hope I am wrong, but BN is now toast so it is all down to IL and I have got to say he does not exactly fill me with confidence!!

Better than Nobby??

I am convinced that moves are already afoot to sack him. People are typing frantically as we speak. Preparing anti-Wigan Coach paragraphs and phrases to be 'cut'n pasted' as required.

And noone knows who he/she is yet.....officially!!
???? where did I say that ? I'm saying that the next coach needs to be better than Nobby, because Nobby is a poor coach. If whoever comes in, after a decent period of settling in proves to be not up to scratch, then He'll need to go as well. The important thing is the peformance of the team, not some sentimental attachment to a 'nice guy'.

good point ref our way of play

I pay for a season ticket and go to away matches expecting to see a team try / play

BN's style is to play for a couple of games at the end of the season.#

Hopefully we will now get someone who gets the players to play all season, not just for 4 or 5 games

WIGAN WARRIORS CONFIRM DEPARTURE OF BRIAN NOBLE

Now that the 2009 playing Season is over for Wigan Warriors, the Club confirms that Head Coach, Brian Noble, has not been offered a new Contract and will be leaving at the end of this season.

Brian leaves with the heartfelt thanks of the Wigan Board and many thousands of Wigan fans for the superb job he has done over the past 4 years including saving the Club from likely relegation in 2006, reorganising the whole Coaching and Junior Development structures within the Club resulting in the current, highly-talented and homegrown Under 18’s and Reserves squads, injecting stability into the Coaching side of the Club and taking Wigan to the brink of future success.

Brian joined Wigan Warriors in April 2006 from rival Super League club Bradford Bulls and in the following three and half seasons has led Wigan to two Challenge Cup Semi-Finals and in 2007, 2008 and 2009 to the Final Eliminators for the Super League Grand Final.

Commenting on the decision Chairman, Ian Lenagan, said:

"It has been a difficult decision not to offer Brian an extension to his current Contract. I have the greatest regard for his absolute professionalism and he and I have worked together closely and well. However, we believe on balance that it is now time for change at Wigan to progress to even higher levels and to achieve the trophy-winning success which our fans rightly expect from a Club of Wigan’s heritage and squad potential. Change is necessary at some point in all businesses and there are obvious precedents of Head Coaches leaving at the end of their contract period in Super League at the two most successful clubs of the past 5/6 years - St Helens and Leeds.

"Brian leaves with our best wishes for his future and our thanks for the very professional way in which he has led the team and conducted himself. He will perhaps be best remembered by Wigan supporters for the incredible run he and the team put together in 2006 to escape relegation and almost make the playoffs."

A Press Conference will be held on Wednesday next, October 7th,to announce the new Wigan Warriors Head Coach.
