We played tough and hard and probably deserved to take the spoils. In effect if Sam T had got the ball away cleanly then we would have been at OT next week. Saints had the rub of the green again!

I do agree with Ianb that we are average in attack, other than Sam there is no X factor in the team - this is something that we badly need to rectify quicly if we are to challenge for honours. A quality No7 is essential.

Regarding the Aussies, we are light years behind them. That's why I am hoping for an Antipodean coach next season.

We were average at best. We started with no energy or enthusiasm, and struggled to make any yards with the ball. We had no organisation in attack and never looked like scoring a try until the last 15 minutes, where it seemed our game plan went out of the window and we start to play a bit. Saints weren't much better and their the 2nd best team in this league. The stains team of 3 years ago would've put 50 on us.

We've got within 4 points of a GF spot without being able to attack. Says something about the league at the moment doesn't it.

The Wigan team 15 years ago would have put 50 on the Saints team of 3 years ago. The standard of RL in this country is falling year by year. I suggest that everybody watches the Aussie Grand Final tomorrow if they don't believe me.

:eusa2: I agree with 99% of what you said Ian bar the Joel Tomkins part. He stayed in play but Longy old manned the officials. I think Joel was the one player to emerge with a big + from the game.

BTW We have choked in 5 (FIVE) Final Eliminatrors we have come up short and played fairly clueless be it a Semi of the CC or a GF SL Eliminator. Why? Poor sytems / structures with the ball in hand. If you care to look at every game leading up to Saints 99% of our tries came from big cut outr passes by Lockers and Tommy to our winger. Those tries all depend on the opposition wingers not defending correctly.

Ganson made some crucial errors but while we lost lets face it what you say is mostly correct. Going to OT with this team and this coach would be a scary prospect v Leeds. We are not ready for such a final and the 12 games lost this year is the reason why.

I'd still like to have been there and would be hoping we could do Leeds in a one off final but I am fed up of semi final appearances masking the fact we are not good enough.

Not that it is much consolation but leeds will be heavy favourites v Saints IMO and worryingly in 2010 Leeds will field a stronger/better team than 2009

Would have been good to get there. We hammered Leeds at home earlier in the season,so who knows what would happened.

imo roberts made crucial errors which gifted saints 1 try and when he got the ball 2 yards of line was,nt big enough, fast enough or strong enough to do what meli did ? i cannot think of anything he is good at,he can't go full length[not fast enough]his deffence is terrible, and under a high ball [not got the heart]pants, what else does a winger do?
