Let's just give the new coach a chance. Maybe he can extract from the team, and individuals, better performances! He can start by getting them fit for the start of the season and not just build up from February to July. He can start by getting the players to believe in themselves more, so that they do not take a 'beaten already' attitude in to games against the likes of Saints and Leeds. He can start by bringing in a style of rugby that the Wigan fans expect. He can start by telling players that no matter what their pay, if they don't perform they are out. He can start by making us, the supporters, believe more in the team so that come the new season we do not have posts criticising players, because we know they are giving their very best.
Whoever he may be lets give him the benefit of the doubt - at least until June 2010

I thought so too - one of our "better" forwards on the night.

centralparkfore ver wrote:I think you are missing my point, every game it is the same players making the same mistakes. Coley,Prescott and Joel Tomkins all made errors tonight and it cost us,i know Joel gave out the pass to Carmont for the try in the second half, but he missed a lot of tackles,Coley and Prescott continually lying on and making mistakes at the play the ball.
How many times do i have to post this, our props are as bad as any in SL.Coley is hopeless,Fielden is worse,Prescott just about fit for Leigh or Widnes,Fekka totally unfit and O Carroll has a heart as big as Wigan town centre but is too small.Forwards win games ,the backs decide by how many that is why we are unsuccessful.

If you pay somebody 200K or more. They have to deliver. As it currentkly stands Stuart Fielden could line up alongside many Financial Experts upon a charge of wasting Jo publics money. The man alongside Feka are like a millstone around the neck of Wigan. Anybody who watched the NRL GF can see what being a prop is about. Neither fit the bill.

And they also tend to play for more than 20 minute spells. The worse thing about Fielden was when he first came here he was never spelled. He always played the full 80 minutes for Bradford. In 3 years his career has gone backwards.Maybe he should have played more game time this season.
Feka needs to get fit and quickly,or next season he will be exposed,Monaghan saw to that in the cup semi-final.
I once watched Andy Coley score 3 tries against Wigan playing for Salford,he single handingly outplayed us that day.Once he turned us down to stay at Salford but only came when they got relegated. He seems to make things hard for himself. Just needs to make yards, running at pace, and cut out the high tackles, and keep hold of the ball.
For me I dont think Prescott will get any better, the lad is keen but has not got that nasty streak in him, prop forwards have got to have to compete at the highest level.
If O'Carroll can bulk up a bit and stay injury free he might do us a job

Completely useless in my opinion.
Since he got punched to the floor by Willie Mason he hasn't been the same. i think the best thing we can do is bring in someone new either from another club or even better from the academy and send him off with nobby to Celtic. All respect to Noble...great coach and gonna miss him dearly...just hope he bloody brings Stuart with him!

Good point there Dom. I just look at how the careers of Stuart Fielden and Jamie Peacock have gone since they both left Bradford. Peacock has become and even better player with the England captaincy is a natural leader.Maybe because Fielden followed Noble here he became a bit complasant,a new coach giving him a differant role could be just what he needs to get his career back on track.

He has lost his bottle. Here was a guy that would get whacked by Barrie McDermott and want more. Now he has no stomach for the contest. He is afraid to run the ball in properly and put his body on the line.

Can he look in the mirror and look himself in the eye and say I give my all? I guess there's only SF who know's if he's lost his bottle or not.
