What the new coach needs to be told....

Post by exile in Tiger country »

Each of the last few snakes coaches when interviewd have all mentioned the mantra they have been given on appointment by everyone from the chairman through to the fans, and that message was " Win us silverware but more importantly beat Wigan at every opportunity".
We need to be sure that whomever gets the job, this message is given to the coach "Beat St. Helens, Beat St Helens, Beat St. Helens!" If we do that we will win trophies.
I've never seen a woman with hairy ears, and I've been to St Helens." John Bishop

"BANG,CRASH,WALLOP, TRY". E. Hemmings describing Palea'asina's try against KR, Play off 26/09/09

I'm sure he'll he told this everytime if meets a Wigan fan! I'm excited with what a new coach can do with the majority of lads we have, especially with the young lads coming through. The future is Bright, It's Cherry and White! :D
Wigan Till I Die!!

We've had Barrett and Kenny, Edwards and Hanley, Boston and 8 IN A ROW!!!

But they won't. They will only go after him if he fails. To suggest otherwise is nonsense though I dare say there are some who view the appointment of an overseas coach a bad thing in itself so he will have no chance with them.

What he should be told is he needs to get the side to finish top of the league. If he can do that we will beat Saints more often than not and will give ourselves the best chance in the play offs. Something his predecessor failed to do.

What would you be saying to him Jim:
"its good to see you here, all the best, but Nobby is better than you".

Pressure from the fans comes with the territory in any coaching role in any sport. If you don't believe me; go to a junior soccer match and see how animated the parents get. Wigan is the highest pressure job in RL; everyone knows that.

Noble was rightly lauded for saving the club from relegation, since then he has failed to progress the club any further.

3 and a half seasons in charge; 5 semi finals, no finals and no silverware - some might see that as a reason to express dissatisfaction in the coach.

Noble's gone Jim - time to get over it.
"And Martin Offiah, trying to make some space, now then..." - Ray French, Wembley 1994

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

Genuine competition for places, irrespective of salary/nationality/age/whatever. No favourites who will get picked however much they're underperforming. Squad rotation, bring in the youngsters gradually instead of dropping them straight in at the deep end when injuries come along.
