New Signings

Post by Webby1971 »

Read on the teletext that IL has hinted that Mcguire could make a couple of signings for next season if he feels he needs to strengthen any positions. Maybe thats why we haven't made any signings yet as we have been waiting for the new coach to be announced. Billy Slater anyone??? I wish.

I thought Lenegan had said that we didn't have the money on the cap?

We're fine in the backs and second rowers, I think we could do with trying to sign a big rough prop.

He said on the GMR show last Thursday that until it had been decided who would be in charge in 2010 there was little point in making signings, as if there was to be a new coach, he should have some say i who was signed.
Seems fair enough to me.

And yes we do need a big rough prop. "Put a bit more dog in the pack" as Shaun Wane said inthe same GMR show.

I agree about a prop. Who's on the market?

Paul King
Jamie Thackray
Ryan Boyle
Frank Winterstein
Josh Cordoba

Pretty shit picking there.

What's all this rubbish about us signing Graham as well?

It is except if you leave it until the very end of the season to get your new coach signed up he won't have great deal of choice. There has been a steady stream of recruits being announced by other clubs that have all passed us by.

I acknowledge we could not sign Maguire up sooner as the rules on signing assistant coaches from overseas as head coaches only changed in September but any lack of choice of available players now is a direct consequence of that.

McGuire will need to sign a few players because Noble has left a squad with a few gaps that need filling.

It will be interesting to see if McGuire lets any players go.
