To say he is going to another club may be premature, nobody but the new coach and mr Lenigan will decide that, certainly not Stuart.
The salary cap talk is also somewhat irrelevant, as Fielden is on a contract for one more year, and believe it or not at no time during his career at wigan has he been the highest paid player. work that one out.
Thanks for clearing that up for us Stu!

Which is not implausible IMO. If true then when he does leave and we don't immediately make contract offers for the best two Aussie internationals some people will be very perplexed as to why not!

I think its interesting that over the last couple of seasons as supposedly huge contracts have expired and players have left or re-signed on supposedly lower terms we have not suddenly found Wigan with the ability to splash the cash to the degree many seem to expect.

Would not surprise me if the same applied when Fielden leaves.

You know as infuritating as he's been this year I want him to stay, to see if it was Noble's management of him, or Stuart himself, that's put him where he is. What would be better to see than the old Fielden tearing in like he used to, and swaggering round, on top of his game!?

I've said it many times before big games in the past year, if only the old Fielden would turn up, we could have beat anyone!

he's been found out, the Mason punch outed him, he was a bully, nobody is scared of him anymore and he won't ever get that back, The death of his mum around the same time took a big chunk out of him psychologically as well i reckon, sorry you ain't going to get to see the old Fileden which is a shame

Well I'm no pyschologist so let's see what happens with some different coaching and the odd rocket up his arse (or cuddle, as he may need!).

I've come to the conclusion here Dave that we have/are using incrementally inflating contracts too much, otherwise everytime a top earner left we'd be recruiting nop notch and in the main we're not. In effect the 'spare' money is already gone before we can access it.

it would be nice if MM could coax him out of his shell, maybe it's been down to Nobby's regime all this time, who know's, i have wondered from time to time, if Mason's punch had come a year earlier when he didn't have the emotional baggage of his mums death, whether it would have had the same effect that it obviously has done?

Honestly think its confidence........
For a number of reasons, most already mentioned, its not there , or has only been shown in a few instances..hopefully Maguire will stiffen up the structure of the team.. dont think we,ll be watching free flowing rugby though. look at Hudds, relatively successful but boring to watch..Think an aussie will suit fielden more , because they coach a more rigid style.( look out Tomkins)

nobby had probably taken the team as far as he could.. can only see the new guy as a good move.. think most players will benefit . As long as he can handle the ego,s and the pressure of the biggest job in rugby league,.

I totally agree, it Couldnt be more true Medlocke.
Like the boxer who loses his killer instinct, from that point he is no longer a forceful boxer.
I never saw Fielden as a bully though, he used his mouth alot, waved his hands about and pointing his finger.
As you say, he has been rumbled.

dont ever think he was a bully either just had a bit of gob..i think it was more something to get the fans talking after games about how brave and not bothered about about starting a ruck with anyone sort of thing cos he just seems like a big softie really.
i think the willy mason was a little cheap but stu did cock his hand back but i dont think for one min he would have punched, but you play with the big boys and thats what happens, point blank mason is a complete ass and it would have been awesome for stu to smash his face in, kidwell did the same to mason in a test if u remember, mason thought he was rocky after fielden, mouthed off at thwe kiwi's and the kidwell,no where near the size of mason sat him on his backside and blacked his eye, quality, its on youtube if no one has seen it,
i think fielden needs someone to gob at him again and catch him a bad mood and for him to give them one right on chin, and maybe get the fire back in his belly, if he got a few matches for it but it got the old stu back i'm sure it would be well worth it
