The next season hasn't started and a vein of pessimism seems to run through the comments posted. Surely the key to success is to worry about your own performance rather than fear the opposition. We didn't perform in several games last season, and that's the bit we need to get right.
As for the others, well. The Rhinos are thick skinned and charge a lot, and we shouldn't get too twisted up about the Wire. I think the Giants have got too big and the Saints are likely to be de-beatified. We've got to extinguish the fire of the Dragons, charge at the Bulls, and tame the Tigers and any other wild Cats. We can't allow the Robins to be too chirpy, and maybe get Columbine to seduce Harlequin. After a secular Crusade, we can paint the City red and all will be well. I hope that's clarified everything in Black and White.
Were do you think wigan will finish next season.

Re: Were do you think wigan will finish next season.
Burgess i admit will be missed,Newton is way past his best,Morrison and Solomona have been laregely injured for a large part of last season and as you say Jefferies is average at best.I disagree wiyh your opinion if Hall and Lestrange,i think they are good players.Sculthorpe is average but then again our props are average,in the case of Coley and Fielden they are poor.Kearney again is a fine player and Reardon can play anywhere in the backs.Dont forget Bulls were on a roll at the end of the season and i think they will improve a lotHawkeye wrote:I agree about Wire but how will the bulls be stronger?old hooker wrote:Without signings 6th or 7th.Wire and Bulls will be stronger next season,Leeds Stains,KR and Catalans and possibly Giants will finish above us also. They all have bigger stronger packs and our props in particular are poor.
lost
Burgess (huge loss world class)
newton (better than the new guy)
morrison (top player imo)
solomona (very good when fit)
jefferies (average but no replacment)
in
hall (journey man)
lestrange (average)
sculthorpe (very average)
reardon (average)
karney (never fit)
please add any i missed
Re: Were do you think wigan will finish next season.
I'd hope with no recruits but with the changes in the coaching department we could get into the top four but it is by no means certain.
The concern is while MM and SW may improve us I don't think several other teams will conveniently stand still.
Saints won't drop off the pace that much and will easily still be top four contenders. Leeds will so that leaves us to displace HKR and Hudds and hoping Wire and Hull (who have seemingly done a lot of recruiting) do not realise their potential.
I think while we may laugh about Wire not making the 8 this time their CC win will have given them all the confidence they need to be genuine top four contenders and we have had the threads on here about how they seem to be assembling a top class squad yet stick within the cap.
Even if MM & SW improve us as I expect them to do it isn't a given that will get us into the top 4.

4th-6th again imo.
We have a new coach and hopefully things will gel pretty quickly between him and the players. I'd love to see us sign a couple of quality new players and believe we do need to do that to take us on a level but i'm not expecting any before the start of the season.
As for the league overall i think Wire will crack the top 2 and probably knock Saints down into 3rd position. I'd like to think we could challenge for a top 3 spot but without those couple of players it's doubtful. I reckon Huddersfield will have another good season after signing 3 or 4 good players and we'll be challenging with them, Hull KR and Catalans for those 4-6 positions.
