Last nights game you could see a marked improvement in the team both as individuals and team effort lot faster around the play the ball area defense was a massive improvement and on fitness from last year.Yes we did drop a few balls and wayward passes What's more there is now a buzz going around the stadium and around town given more games under their belts and MM to summarise the team's display and iron out the faults I think we are in for a good season.Yes we did make mistakes and we were not perfect but there is room for improvement time will be the factor more game time we have we will improve dramatically.Good yardstick next friday against Hull KR. Apart from Deakin this is the same squad as last year.
Couldn't make last night in the end but the speed around POTB was remarked upon several time on GMR (Thank heavens for t'internet).
It was also suggested that Crusaders are the worst team to ever play in Superleague, but also that Wigan could only play what was in front of them.
At times it sounded as though ref Childs was being more than a little kind to the Crusaders, but we won, and hopefully this will instil even greater confidence in the team.

I think some of the Crusaders comments have been harsh. don't forget, this is only the 2nd game they have played as a team and they are no where near match fit or used to playing together. Expect some shock results mid season onwards!
Anyway, back to Wigan. Very impresed with the fitness regime and the fact that straight after the match, all the players are whisked away to the pool to start rehab! Phelps deserved coaches MoM, although it could have gone to pretty much any one of the lads last night.

There were a few kicks by Witt that should have been gathered better I remember around 3 wigan players waiting for the bomb and it seemed nobody was shouting for it, Gleeson wasn't even looking at the ball I think we gave away a penalty after that play.
Plenty to work on and plenty to look forward to
Thanks for that info ancientnloyal.Sometimes wonder if the hacks are seeing the same game as genuine fans.As stated (Sporting life)seem to give a different account. But then again they are just hacks.
He did ok and would have done against a normal SL team, he backed up well and his try was the pick for me... I just picked on a few covering faults but it's Crusaders. It's all good
from the comments we sounded very good and fast and fit,
couldn't get to the game but it seems the lads have made an impression,
watched the game on sky bulls vs giants
the bulls look like same old tripe very very poor on their perfomance they will really struggle, hudds didnt look very threatening either
I was very pleased with the lads performance and they all looked fit and well conditioned (who the hell was that in Feka's hat ?).
Crusaders were poor and it wasn't a good pointer for the season I agree but its still far better than the start of last season.
I thought Gleeson was busy and did well, Deacon worked hard and made a couple of nice kicks and my MOM was Amos Roberts, I thought he had a real good game.
I'm a happy little Barrow Warrior.
Last season he was very happy just to go through matches giving the minimum amount of effort required but against Crusaders he looked really determined and beat a few players with fend and sidesteps and was aggressive in his approach, still didn't pass much but lets not get too carried away.
