If you dont know by now i live in Newcastle and i used to go watch Gateshead Thunder when they were in the super league and iam also sure that you know that thunder actually spotted him and brung him to league. He was first spotted playing for Ireland then Shuan Macraee (spelling?) brought him to the Thunder Dome but although he is now playing for the best Super League team in England he actually raley started to thunder.
Unfortunatly that scum team called Hull FC took our player to stop them from getting relagated.
Did anyone go to Scotland to see Wigan vs Thunder? and what did you think of the game? and have you seen how poor Thunder are doing now?
BRIAN CARNEY
Re: BRIAN CARNEY
I remember that day. A long trip up the motorway with our minibus driver getting totally lost on the way into Edinburgh. Tynecastle was a very strange ground, seemed like we were hundreds of feet above the pitch looking down. And what a long match it seemed to be for us Wigan fans (not to mention a very long trip back home again).
I recall someone by the name of Willie Peters being the main reason for our downfall that day. I wonder what happened to him after leaving the Thunder...?!
As a former (temporary) resident of the north-east I think it's a shame Thunder haven't taken off, although the guys I was at Poly with were just totally soocer-mad and the idea of there being other sports they could watch just didn't occur to them. The decision to "merge" with Hull was a disgrace (as was the Shuddersfield fiasco) just to keep an old team going. Looking at what McRae has done at Hull, I can't help thinking he'd have had similar success at Gateshead but the powers-that-be couldn't bring themselves to let the Hull team disappear, even if they were appalling in that last year.

I also used to live in the North East and met Brian at one of the open evenings fantastic man really funny, he actually was a weight lifter when he was at uni and played for the dublin blues out of chance and made the Ireland Students team where his potential was spotted. Dont right off Gateshead either i played a few games for them last year they have a small but passionate fan base and have started to pick up the odd win here and there. Think a successful home grown team would really get the support of the Geordies they are sport mad!

i completely agree i play for killingworth rockets rugby league and it is a disgrace how we get treat i also think you are right Peters was a great player that day. Another one was Matthew Daylight that little fast winger he was a great player all season.
And as for Hull when us (Thunder) went down there all the home fans did was slag off our player saying things like how were a bunch of ozzie twats it was a disgrace. But now look at them they now have most of our ozzie twats.

I cannot beleive this, i do not check the message board for a couple of days and when i do there is all this talk of brian leaving wigan. Where has this talk come from? He is getting better in each game it would be such a shame if he were to leave at the end of the season. As lots of you guys seem to have met him (as i did last week) do you happen to know if there is a REAL mrs brian carney? I was too shy to ask?

if we can`t keep carney then something is seriously wrong with this organisation.. he is without question one of our best players this year!
