The Richards penalty

Post by cpwigan »

I am not convinced it was. Nowhere in the rule book does it say the play has to move from where he is stood. He cannot block/step across which IMO he did not. The onus is on the chaser to go around him not through him.

I think to be fair if you watch it on tv pat does touch the player and inpeed him, but a bit 50/50 imo though

Fair dos. Totally biased so it probably was a reasonable call. Clutching at straws :)

I have to say I thought that the penalty was fair enough. He moved from where he was towards the Bradford player and definately put the shoulder in.

Thought the ref had a good game to be fair but it was the touch judge who called it. At the game I thought it was Hansen(?) who was penalised for tackling the man without the ball just before the Richards incident. Either were fair enough penalties imo.

I don't think we can the referee though. The TJ gave it. The referee just backed him as all referees do / have to.
