magic weekend
Re: magic weekend
If you look on the RFL web site it would appear from the ground plan that no upper tier tickets are on sale for the event this year. This is proberbly due to the poor attendance in all the previous magic weekends. At least if they only sell lower tier the ground will look like its full.
Re: magic weekend
Just been back on RFL web site its behind the sticks that the upper tier looks closed. However there are tickets in the upper tier on either side of the stadium.

Thank goodness we're playing someone decent. Can't think of anything worse than travelling all that way to play Salford or in another equally dull tie. Seen a few people complaining about the fairness of it, is anyone else bothered?

Personally, I think the whole thing is a farce, as to the fairness, we have fourteen teams so no one should have to play one team three times, it must give someone an advantage playing the weaker teams.gpartin wrote:Thank goodness we're playing someone decent. If the RFL/SKY insist on carrying on with the "Magic" then the fixture should just be part of the regular season.

Don't be so negative 'exile'. James Graham said the same last year, and as I recall his team lost.
This is an event which generates a lot of interest in Rugby League and is enjoyed by many people who would never normally take time to see it. It's a wonderful advertisement for our great game. Never, never undervalue the power of marketing. As I have said before if you can sell McDonald's and people eat it in preference to food, then you can sell anything.
If you don't want to go, don't go. But don't be a curmudgeon about those who do.

here here, i love it, had an awesome time last year, mix with other fans all there for the same reason, beer fun and rugby, cant wait for it again
Re: magic weekend
I have to agree its a great weekend gives all teams and supporters the chance to sample a cup final situation and yes plenty of beer.I've been to them all so far just got my tickets from the warriors ticket office because they get a % of the money instead of the the RFL.
Re: magic weekend
Would be better played at Old Traford ,I can see the the logic of expanding the game but in the present economic climate not feasable. Why the need for a draw at the end of the season

I love it, just not sure about the timing of moving it from Wales tbh especially to Scotland which seems about as anti rugby league as you can possibly get. They're about as likely to draw a big local crowd to murrayfield as they would playing the same games on Eton playing fields.
If it isn't about attracting locals why not play it at Wembley which the RFL have shares in IIRC giving players who wouldn't get chance under normal circumstances a fantastic opportunity to do so?

OT fair enough but how is your method fair when team finishing 4th gets far harder draw than team finishing 5th?jaws1 wrote:Would be better played at Old Traford ,I can see the the logic of expanding the game but in the present economic climate not feasable. Why the need for a draw at the end of the season
