Alan Beswick
Re: Alan Beswick
I daresay Russel Brand/Johnathan Ross would have argued the same too. Did not make it right then and does not make it right too. Given the disciplinary measures handed out by the BBC then one would hope that the same organisation is consistent in this case.
Some people just like to disagree because of whom posted BUT I cannot take them seriously. I just chuckle at their view re Joel Tomkins.

Re: Alan Beswick
some arrogant people might chuckle at peoples views of certain players performances from last year, but then, people may be wondering how certain people who slagged off certain players (3 in total) all last season have all of a sudden turned face (cos lets face it certain people do have 2 ) and are now claiming that they praised certain players and always had faith, makes you wonder why certain people and others don't come near certain sites anymore, still it could be worse certain people might type a 4 page manifesto of why certain people are spitting the dummy.
Re: Alan Beswick
Can we keep it on topic please.
I'm not overly fussed about this bloke and I don't think Amos will be overly offended. However, the point is tatthe BBC is meant to be impartial and this clearly wasn't. Its worth complaining based on that alone imo.

Been to any Wigan games this season Medlocke
Re: Alan Beswick
He does say things like this especially to wind people up. that is or was what his show is all about, playing devils advocate etc. The response he's got from most people on here, well, he'll be laughing up his sleeve.
I don't know him personally but I'd say for sure he doesn't really mean Amos any harm.
Having in the past listened to his show quite a bit, I'd say he's old school rugby league, in that although he hates Wigan for always being better than the wire, he's also got a lot of respect for what we've achieved.

Re: Alan Beswick
2 so far and got another 4 on the cards hopefully 5 if i'm lucky, but what has that got to do with anything, are you saying that fans who can't get to games don't matter and are not as special as those who live within the local vacinity of Wigan that attend regularly?

Got a reply email this morning from the BBC re Alan Beswicks' remarks.

Thanks for your e-mail regarding the 6 April edition of 'Beswick at Breakfast' on BBC Radio Manchester.
We understand that you felt Allan's comments about Amos Roberts' suspected broken leg were inappropriate.
Allan Beswick is very well known as a Warrington Wolves supporter, who are currently battling with Wigan Warriors for the top spot in the Super League. His comments here were in that context, with rivals Wigan Warriors having scored a very convincing win in their match against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on 5 April 2010, thus keeping them at the top of the table.
Allan's unique brand of humour is well known to his BBC Radio Manchester listeners who will appreciate that his comments here about both Wigan and their player Amos Roberts were not intended to be taken at all seriously, but were merely humorous comment borne out of frustration at Wigan's excellent result which kept them above Warrington in the table.
His banter with sports presenter Delyth Lloyd on the subject was clearly light-hearted with Allan in reply being jokily called a "naughty man" by Delyth.
Clearly in no way was Allan actually happy that a player suffered an injury - indeed he was genuinely full of praise for Wigan's performance even though it meant his beloved Warrington were denied the top spot as a result of their win.
The sports report also went on to focus on the incident itself in some depth including commentary clips plus a description of the match and a review of the injury incident with an interview with the team's coach describing it fully.
However, we do acknowledge your concerns over his comments and we'd like to assure you that we've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.
The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
