Bringing the right players back?
Bringing the right players back?
The club IMO are at fault on this score.
The two best reserve forwards in the last season or so were Liam Farrell and Ben Davies. If we have the need, those are the two players who should be recalled. The next best reserve forward was Chris Tuson. Why oh why were those 2 players never recalled. Bad decision making by the club.

Re: Bringing the right players back?
Speaking of recalled players what did SA do tonight?
Re: Bringing the right players back?
IMO nothing productive bar one tackle and was at fault on occasions. He has bulked up too much and lost and speed off the mark he had.
Re: Bringing the right players back?
Simply not true. His speed of the mark is what allowed him to catch the player in the tackle you refer to. No one else was going to. He had to turn round to do it and the Quins player had a big start.cpwigan wrote:IMO nothing productive bar one tackle and was at fault on occasions. Honestly you are do biased re Ainscough it's getting ridiculous.

Re: Bringing the right players back?
Ainscough didn't expect Penny to beat Phelps so it looked like he chased Penny down. I think Goulding would have read the situation better and moved inside earlier. From where I sit quite a few times tonight where and what I have come to expect what the right winger will do this season just didn't happpen. Goulding is potential international class, Ainscough is borderline Championship / super league.
Similiar to the Lockers v Sinfield loose forward debate when there is no real comparison (one is world class and the other plays for Leeds

Penny took a short inside ball and beat the entire defensive line and was off.Intimidated By the South Stand wrote:Ainscough didn't expect Penny to beat Phelps so it looked like he chased Penny down. I think Goulding would have read the situation better and moved inside earlier.
It was then simply a matter of who (if anyone) caught him.
And this assessment is based on what? Goulding in a good team coached by MM on a weekly basis and Ainscough returning to in injury hit side after being at Cas?From where I sit quite a few times tonight where and what I have come to expect what the right winger will do this season just didn't happpen. From where I sit a lot of things I expect didn't happen but I am certainly not going to write anyone off based on tonight's game (except Bailey which is rather significant in the winger debate anyway).

Your right Dave O lots of things didn't happen tonight but one of those was the lack of cover and hard work from the right winger. The centre makes a difference but though Ainscough is okay, Goulding is just better.

So what? Goulding is far better in just about every area. There isnt even as much difference in speed as some like to try and make out and Ainscough certainly isnt anywhere near as quick as some like to claim.exile in Tiger country wrote:But I very much doubt faster.Intimidated By the South Stand wrote:Your right Dave O lots of things didn't happen tonight but one of those was the lack of cover and hard work from the right winger. As Dobby states Ainsy is not fast ESPECIALLY as distance increases. Ask him to run repeat 60-100 metres with very short breaks and even forwards beat him. His aerobic capacity is awful. Aneorobic, he used to be very good. Now even that has gone.
Goulding aerobically will P all over Ainsy and at a single 60 - 100 metres may well beat him. Currently I think he would. Far too muscle bound and bulked up Ainsy.
