For my sins I have watched the game again. I cannot get my head around around;

A) The absurd RFL directive re challenging kickers

B) How any referee / any other player / any fan / ANYBODY can tell you whether or not the actions of another human being are intentional / unintentional.

So you get a sin bin for jumping and marginally catching a kicker but you get the referee telling a player who hits a player across the face, a player who kicks out and cuts a player very close to his eyes (Imagine if God Forbid Joel had been blinded / eyesight damaged) that it is OK as the referees KNOWS it was accidental.

Don't get me started on KEAR

As I have stated before I'm not blaming the referee for the defeat. However the Senior incident was a disgrace. If Joel Tomkins has been on the floor holding onto Senior then maybe you could understand Senior kicking out to clear the tackle. However, Joel is 6'4",was stood up and got kicked above the eye. There is no way that it was accidental. It'll be interesting to see in the match review panel have anything to say about it.

To be honest Straw there were a whole lot of things we could have done better and negated the referee. I still think he had far too much a say in the game. However, yes, he kicked out as high as he could. I daresay a drunk driver could argue he did not go out with the intention to kill the child he knocked down but he is guilt and pays the price. Yet in RL you get away with illegalities and are even defended by the likes of Kear.

Disgraceful very unsportsmanlike, but what do you expect from Leeds players a set of cheats the lot of them.

You'd be naive to think that all players from every team wouldn't try and make it look as though an incident is worse than it really is. I bet there's a 50-50 split with Wigan fans thinking it wasn't and Leeds fans thinking it was a sin-bin. You can't challenge a kicker though, isn't that the rule?[/quote

just a quick point to everyone on this. It is Rob that as log in as linzi! Thats why Linzi sounds like a ref coz it is really rob!

Could understand the sin binning if farrel had made contact with the head or neck areas, but it was a a body check, and not one of any malicious intent

that's not really the point and I understand the rule because when a kicker is taken out he isn't braced for the collision so there's a higher potential for injury. At the game I thought the decision was fair and if the boot was on the other foot this wouldn't have been up for discussion. Even watching the replay I.m not sure. The rule about the penalty being given where the ball lands is weird because if you hit the player harder as he kicks and the kick is bad as a result the pen would be in a worse place for the attacking side, its one of those weird rules like when a penalty kick is missed the team that miss are rewarded with getting the ball back in a better position than if they had kicked it. Rules like that annoy me as do interpretations of rules like, as seen in the Wire game on Sunday dropouts can be taken take a yard or so past the line with all players in front of the kicker all running for the ball but the opposition is penalised for not allowing the kick to go 10 metres which massively increases the odds of the kicking team winning the ball from a short kick. There were far worse decisions than the sinbinning in our game that have been discussed on here in great length where a number of Leeds players were lucky to stay on the field. This makes the fact Faz was sinbinned seem a bit harsh but had this been the only poor call in an otherwise well-reffed game there'd have been less uproar from our fans about it imo.

He deserved a bloody oscar Reminds me of Alex Murphy getting a player, (can't for the life of me remember his name) sent off in the final, lying on the ground as if knocked out, only to get up when the player has been sent off. Disgraceful very unsportsmanlike, but what do you expect from Leeds players a set of cheats the lot of them.

It was Sid Hines, he was playing for Featherstone at the time if memory serves me well, the 1973/4 challenge cup,
Billy Thompson was ref, heard Murphy doing an after dinner speech, when he was asked about it
