[quote="Shaun1967"]For the record Gleeson was not legless when I saw him (although it was early evening and I didn't hang about to see what he was like later).
Perhaps it was a little unfair to say "he was on the piss", however if a poll had been put on here to to guess which player would be seen out on the pop last night I don't think many other names would have figured.

It was a Saturday night after a hard game, with probably the next day off, report for trainig Monday, so I would have guesed most of them. Going for a beer or two after a tough working week doesn't make you an alcoholic. Give the guy a break.

Whatever way we wrap it up Gleeson started the season in far better form and looking so much better for the new coaching regime. He has then chose to stick 2 fingers at the coaches/teammates/fans and he has been missing tackles that had his name been Ainscough / Goulding / Phelps he would have been destroyed by fans. Yet here we have a seasoned professional with a poor past record stick two fingers up at everybody and some fans say awww give him a break. Shaun Edwards / Ellery Hanley would not have given him a break. Nor should we.

I'd love to be able to see the world as black and white as CP, however unless it states in a players contract he cannot consume alcohol, get over it. The day any professional club tries to implement such a rule is the day they lose their players.

You forgot to add Ellery Hanley and Shaun Edwards. Wayne Pearce and many more. They saw it as black and white as old CPW does. I am in good company me thinks. It's part of being professional or do you think otherwise Exile?exile in Tiger country wrote:I'd love to be able to see the world as black and white as CP, however unless it states in a players contract he cannot consume alcohol, get over it. Oddly alcohol consumption and a loss of form coincided RE Gleeson. Sheer fluke eh Exile. Never mind let the boys get pissed, who cares if they miss tackles, drop balls. Boys will be boys.

1 connelly piss head
2 renouf didnt train or did very very little
but both performed
glees might be having a bit a bad patch at home or something but we are top of league at mo we will have 3 players on england duty game after next, IMO glees will be back on form and stand up and be counted.
he missed a tackle in the 80th min its not end of world, after playing a really tough match in hard condtions, if u see it again he does grab smith and goes low smith does break/slip through. he stepped aswell. it was a hard tackle in hard condions all those things together as well as luck and not completing led to leeds being where they was,
glees was just the man who was there, had he scored the winner up other end this thread would not exist nor would it exist had the missed tackler been lockers or pat or prob anyone else

I don't want to get shut of him. On his day there is not a better English centre currently playing the game.
However there is a reason why Saints wanted shut of him, Wire wanted shut of him, and MM has told him he is not meeting the expected standards on or off the pitch at Wigan.
Maybe all these were not good judges of what constitutes a good professional. My concern is that the chance he has to excel under MacGuire could be wasted if he is not careful.

I couldn't care less what players do in their own time - as long as it doesn't affect their performance on the field (as long as it's legal).
Gleeson's form has suffered recently and this oddly seems to have coincided with him being dropped for breaking club discipline regarding drinking.
If he's not playing well then he should be concentrating on getting his form back and if that involves being tee-total for a while, then so be it.
If he had scored a hat-trick on Saturday; then no-one would have complained about him getting leathered afterwards.
