Deacon To Return To The First Team?
Following his comeback in the reserves on Saturday, I expect PD to return to the team. Why? In the absence of Lockers we need another playmaker.

MM supposedly gave Lockers until yesterday lunchtime to prove his fitness. That would suggest that he is not expected to be absent for too long, or have I missed something?

Not true.O'Loughlin is out for between 3 and 5 weeks.Kittwazzer wrote:MM supposedly gave Lockers until yesterday lunchtime to prove his fitness. That would suggest that he is not expected to be absent for too long, or have I missed something?

i agree give deacon a run
Re: Deacon To Return To The First Team?
Hard to say but he may as well be rather than Feka. A huge call but a thought I hasd at some point in games I would quite like to see Deacon and Sam in the halves with Tommy at LF.
Re: Deacon To Return To The First Team?
Wigan could certainly do with Deacon's kicking ability, Leulaui and Tomkins were awful against St Helens.
On the note of kicking I think Sean O'Loughlin is actually Wigan's best long range kicker but rarely takes up the role.

Barring injuries to Leuluai, Tomkins, Riddell or McIlorum I just cant see Deacon getting in the team. I dont think he is a patch on any of those 4 in their respective positions and he is a big weakness defensively.

I'd like to see Tommy switch from 7 to 9 when Piggy go's off with Deacon on the bench coming on at 7. Tommy has the speed and step perfect for 9 and we were a lot more affective against Saints when Piggy was hooking...
Re: Deacon To Return To The First Team?
I've seen a few people give that opinion, and I don't quite understand it. Our best periods of the game, both in attack and defence, coincided with McIlorum being on. That first 20 minutes, we were the dominant side, only going behind to a 40-20 which led to a try against the run of play. That last 10 minutes were superb, and on another day would have been enough to win.wiganrldeanh wrote: we were a lot more affective against Saints when Piggy was hooking...
Two massive turning points, one each way, were Riddell's forward pass and McIlorum's try.

So that one Piggy mistake means he had a bad game Geoff. When he was on he ran the show IMO.He was taken off far to early
for what reason only MM knows,he wasnt knackered.
