I'd agree. A reactive grab with no malice, but it deserved to go. Good to see a ref make a decision - just hope that the consistent approach appplies now......

Thought he'd go straight away, then it only got worse on the slow motion. Should avoid a ban (hopefully!). Thought the ref was good in the 1st half give or take a couple of errors. I thought he'd taken account of the weather and allowed the players a little extra time on the floor. He threw that out of the window for the last 20 though. Crazy.

Think its definately time for the Sin Bin to be looked at again. What can you be sin binned for these days?? Peacocks swipe at Sam at Leeds was defo deserving of a lttle sit down (especially if Faz's hit on Maguire does). Me and me dad want to see any foul play put on report receive an automatic yellow card. Thoughts??
Also remembering Faz's yellow in that game why not the same in this one??
Consistency is the problem as per usual.

deserved a red glad did not put on report ,but bentman was defo chirping in his hear ,many a player ie Peacock have got away with worse tackles all year ,
Think a straight rwed should be enough but will prob get a game or possible 2 match ban as well ,thats wat makes the peacock attack on sam even worse when he gets away with 2 clear attacks to the headf

Wasn't surprised it was a straight red - it was a bad tackle, intended or not. Hopefully it will be sending off sufficient.

What I don't agree with is that Coley hit a prop high and gets red. Peacock hits a stand off high and receives nothing other than a telling off.

Childs was inconsistent throughout the night and let catalans get away with interference for the whole game - towards the end of the game they had up to 4 players at marker; which was never punished. He also made some comically bad decisions - the penalty against Joel for a ball strip being one of them; the penalty but no yellow card for the late hit on the kicker being another.

Elima should have also have been sent to the bin for the flop/swing on Sam. He gave away loads of penalties and whined constantly to the ref like he always does and stayed on the field. If that had been any of the Wigan forwards then they would have got 10 minutes no question.

On its individual merit, difficult to argue it did not deserve a red but have seen as bad, if not worse, treated much more leniently.

If this is a precedent (as opposed to "on report") and now to be the morm for this offence then there should be many more similar sending-offs before the end of the season - somehow I doubt it.

It would be interesting (but a futile hope) for the so-called disciplinary committee to look at the Peacock/Sam Tomkins incident as an exercise in consistency of refereeing standards.

I think a card was in order, it's the colour that's up for debate. I can see arguements for both Red and Yellow, although I think if you took the game into context then yellow would probably have been sufficient.

The game wasn't a particularly nasty game, it didn't appear Coley "lined him up", as previsouly seen by players from all teams in the past.

It looked to me a case of a tired player being caught out of position and instinctively trying to recover. I don't think he diliberately went to take his head off, just an instinctive tired and lazy attempt at a tackle. Coley genuinely seemed appologetic, immediately holding his hand up once he realised what he'd done, which is why I think it was instictive rather than pre-meditated.

Having said that it was definately a card, and this time it was red. Other times it could have been yellow or even no action taken, which is the real issue, inconsistency.

I am told you can not get a Yellow card for a high tackle.
It is red or nothing. The card is given if the ref judges it to be dangerous and/or on purpose.

If you see a penalty were a yellow is given for a high tackle then it is for persistent offending.

I think it should have been a red.
