Gaz Hock to Penrith

Time will tell Dave. I can understand Penrith wanting Gaz Hock because Frank Pritchard (their Gaz Hock clone) is leaving the Panthers at the end of the season having signed for the Bulldogs.

So you have not heard anything yourself then re Hock despite past posts that seemed to speak with authority and you say you knew a month ago re Ainscough? Your source of intelligence dried up then?

I'd have thought you would have been able to confirm or deny this rumour pretty sharpish.

As to Hansen he's always been a favourite player of mine as well you know. As was Joel T before it became fashionable to sing his praises as well. If I spot something good in a player I don't let the fact they may be an unfashionable player get in the way of my saying so. You should try it sometime. We will have to see if I am right with Ainscough in the future.

I doubt Hock would get a visa. I know he has no criminal conviction for drug posession, but still think he'd struggle, especially after the way our border agency have made life hard/impossible for Australian players the last couple of years.

Hope so anyway, can't wait to see him play for Wigan again.

I posted here a month ago that you would be upset re Ainscough and I kept telling you not to go overboard about him. You never listened then and you still do not listen. Even when umpteen coaches argue against your view.

Multiple sources never dry up Dave but neither do they say anything they do not know for certain is true. There is not a Yes or No answer re Gaz Hock because the posters that you as a moderator on Rlfans stood by and watched ridiculed and belittled were told what they were told in good faith. Maybe Penrith are interested in Gaz Hock, especially given they are losing Pritchard. Who would not be interested in such a player.

I would say at this point Gaz Hock will most likely return to Wigan when his ban is concluded. However, this week, any week is a long time in the life of Gaz Hock. You never say never with such characters.

Far more interesting is the other ex Wiganer who will be going to Penrith.

The question is not whether Penrith are interested in Hock but the rumour Hock will actually go there. There are several posters who have claimed that without a doubt he was a Wigan player for 2011. Now we have two on rlfans saying he's nailed on for Penrith. It is entirely reasonable to ask if the people on here who claimed he was a Wigan player in 2011 have heard anything different and you should not read anything into that other than me trying to find out what these people think to see if there is anything to the rumour.

Gaz Hock cannot sign a contract with Wigan or anybody at the moment. However, verbally he has agreed to return to Wigan after his ban concludes and that IMO is what will happen. The poster or 2 posters despite being riddiculed are genuine and have been misled unfairly / stupidly. Somebody not on any internet forum is being mischevious.

Gaz Hock has been offered umpteen promised contracts by rival clubs / coaches since his contract was terminated. A genius on a rugby pitch but off it he not the sharpest tool in the box so you simply cannot say what will happen this week or next week with such a character but all being well he will return.

The two posters on RLfans were treated unfairly

I believe Gaz will come back to wigan and thats why Hofman is only playing one season with us.Of course this is all speculation but I am sure we will not allow Gaz to slip through our fingers.Lenigan I am sure is keeping an eye on him and obviously he cant make any promises, but if you read between the lines "if Gaz makes the right progress there is only one club he will be comming back to thats why we are keeping the opening in our salary for"

Dave, amongst other stories, CP knew on or before 4th August that Ainscough was going to Bradford FACT. If, as you imply, CP wishes everyone to pat him on the back and regard him as the number one source on all things Wigan he would have been straight on here on 4th August leaking the news about Ainscough as well as other news he's decided to keep close to his chest. He knows his reasons for not posting the stories but respect for his source and potential for libel on at least one of the stories no doubt influenced his decision not to post them on here. To me these are not the actions of some smug know-it-all and I think you should put your personal vendetta aside because life's too short. Whether this particular rumour has any truth in it whatsoever its presumptious of you to think CP would come on here and blurt it out or even confirm or deny the rumour for egotistical reasons. You come across as pretty bitter Dave just let it drop man there's no need.

FWIW I can't see much chance of Hock being granted a visa given their immigration officials are said to be stricter than ours, and players have been denied visas here despite not being convicted of a crime. Also if we want Hock to play for us and he decides to go elsewhere it would be a kick in the nuts considering the goodwill he has been shown. I think Hock being at the other side of the world away from his friends and family would be asking for trouble and his advisors would be wise to advise him against it, he would be a ticking timebomb under the scrutiny of the Australian media. Penrith have probably shown an interest but I doubt there'll be much more to it than that.

I do not imply anything about back patting but merely suggest as one of the people supposedly in the know about Hock he might be able to shed some light on the latest rumour. What on earth him knowing about Ainscough has to do with this I do not know.

Don't be so ridiculous. It's nothing to do with ego and he was on here "confirming" it was all sorted Hock was nailed on for a deal with Wigan 2011 when that was posted earlier in the year. If he can do that then what is the problem with doing the same again? None.

Asking those such as cpw if they know any different in the light of the rumours on rlfans is an entirely reasonable thing to do.

I agree. Despite not being convicted of breaking any law I think the Aussies will take a dim view of any visa application - but rl clubs have in the past tried to get players with a bit of dubious past on their books. However this is just speculation and given some posters on here not just cpw were convinced he had a five year deal it would be interesting to see if they know of any change in the situation.

I agree with that as well. Although being away from some of his so called friends might not be a bad thing.
