Richards cant pressure kick

Ian. I could understand your having a go if his kicks went towards the corner flag, but he missed by inches. In fact, from where I was stood at the end, I was convinced it was going over!

i don't think the last one was a problem for him distance wise, he just went right underneath it, a completely different trajectory to most of his kicks. the penalty he missed was nearly as far and it was still rising when it got to the posts.

saying he can't kick under pressure is unfair. remember the 31-30 at bradford? he HAD to nail all 4 conversions to keep the comeback on track and did. at least 2 of them were from the sideline. another one to win a game at huddersfield a couple of years ago comes to mind.

I am old enough to remember that the year we finished top after only losing two matches (both against the Wire!!) we lost both matches because Frano had two off days with the boot.

So am I. Frano's kicks were all about accuracy not power. Sometimes the ball seemed to scrape over at the last gasp when he was trying a longer range kick. I don't think he would have had the power to kick that last minute penalty from where it was.

Did anyone notice that the kick was being taken from where Richards was fouled and not where the ball landed about 12 meters further down field? the rules state that if a kicker is taken out then it is where the ball lands that the penalty shall be awarded...

And when you watch the kick, it only needed a couple more meters and would have been a goal, it only curved to the side once it lost its forward momentum...

Pat is our best kicker and I do not know what the answer is but IMO his kicking rate is down owing to workload which in turn creates fatigue as the match progresses. At the present time we need his workload. People often talk about props etc but in modern day RL wingers are often hitting the ball up and making more yards.

Yes and that was another mistake by the official but I think it Bentham who told Albert where to site the penalty kick. Albert had no clue what was going on and you could see he was in discussion with Bentham over what to do.

It was clearly a penalty awarded for the foul on Richards otherwise it would have been even further back had it been awarded for McQuire taking Carmont out.

As such being it was for a foul in Richards it should have been as you say 12m down the pitch.

Not sure if seconds were still available BUT I wonder if we would have been better kicking to touch and going for a drop from the last play of the game?

Leeds should have had 2 players in the bin for professional fouls so it would have been Golden Point 13 v 11

I thought Pat kicked the ball into touch, the rule used to be if the ball landed in touch the penalty was taken where the ball entered touch but 10 metres in from the sideline, which would have improved the angle for the attempt at goal.

The agonising aspect of the kicks is that they were so close. The straight one was the most kickable. THe one at the end was farcical.
