Superb Gaz Hock Interview

Post by cpwigan »

In RLW by JJB. Far better than JJB's usual pally cliquet nonsensical unimportant twitter like stuff. Far less of JJB and much more of an article/interview.

There was a big interview in yesterdays Wigan Crack o' Dawn post. Refuse to buy it on principle: presumably it will be repeated verbatim in th'Observer!

Yeah it was
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Not read it.
Is it suggesting Gaz Hock could be heading to NRL, or is he more likely to stay in SL, hopefully with Wigan.

Hock says he owes Wigan loads, can't wait to get back playing, is in the best condition of his life and is a totally changed person. He also says he wants to do it for the fans.

So from this I think it's assured that he'll be back in Wigan colours. Certainly hope so.

It is actually an incredibly positive interview / story PM. From what Gaz Hock says the immediate 6 months after the ban he was screwed mentally but that the ban came at a stage when he could have a career post ban was very important and that being caught so soon was a positive.

Wigan receive a lot of praise for the help / contacts they have used to provide Gaz with help. The military PT has worked with Hock on two level, physical fitness in ther mornings but life skills / education in the afternoons. Hock has been to college studying plumbing and worked for a plumbing firm owned/managed by a Wigan RLFC fan.

Hock still sees himself as a back rower but believes Madge when he says that he will make him a better player.

Gaz Hock is not mentally strong and I honestly think he is easilly led.
With this in mind, it looks as though Wigan RLFC have done their utmost to help turn around a weak point in his career.
Reading from what you have said CP, I think there is every chance Gaz Hock will turn into a very successful player in the near future.
Personally, I cant wait to see him back in action after some proper structured RL conditioning both physically and mentally.
Hull FC think they nave a top pack, then bring it on.
