Thinking about it, I don't think ML would want him at the club either, despite his success at St Helens. In Frank Endacott's book, the Happy man suggests one of the reasons he got the boot was because ML likes to be the man in charge, the face of the club, and was getting upset that Frank was the person the media wanted to talk to. Regardless of whether you rated Endacott's skills as a coach (and, having got us to a Grand Final, he was fired after the club slipped from 1st to 3rd, we were getting good results against the top teams and he was actively trying to bring in some big names from his Kiwi side to Wigan - his record at Wigan was rather better than Betts' even if that Grand Final defeat hurt), no-one can deny he's the kind of person people like to talk to, he's very media-friendly, and no-one really wanted to talk to Lindsay at the time.MrsLam posted:
Saints said they were sick of him being bigger than the club, if he came to Wigan and did the same, so would I.
I don't care who he coached last season, he doesn't anymore but I still don't want him here
Since Endacott left, we've heard quite a lot from ML. The coach says his little bit in the run-up to a match but most of the communication out of the club these days comes from ML. Seems a petty, little thing, totally unrelated to results on the pitch, but I think something other than a couple of bad results caused Endacott's departure - was it Chairman Mo's ego that was being hurt by no-one wanting to talk to him, or was it just a personality clash between coach and chairman? And will ML want to risk going through that again with Moaning Millie, who seemingly can't keep out of the headlines?
