Looking at the attendances for the two days, it is approx 60,000 people who went in total. I'm pretty confident that if the games were held as normal at the respective club's grounds, then more people would have gone. I mean Wigan V Saints will pull best part of 18-19,000 people on its own.
Plus, the clubs holding the games get a lot of money through sponsorship, the sale of pies and beer etc etc and would not get that at Millenium Magic.

So....

The RFL, in its infinate wisdom, by promoting the game in holding this pantomime seem to me to get fewer RL fans going to the games where none of the clubs really benefit. Furthermore they decide to do it on day one of the SL where none of the games is as important as they could be and the Refs are still looking at their "interpretations" for the new season so that these 'exhibition' games are stop/start and frustrating where the players don't know what's going on.

Just an observation but I think the Magic Weekend is anything but. I say scrap it!

To be honest considering it cost £12 for adults and £6 for kids it was great value for money.

Went down just for the saturday and had a great day, and would deffinatly go again.

Only problem was the lower section viewing, so low down and if you went to the back the roof blocked your view. We ended up watching the wire match on the tv's.

After a break we came back for the cas match but sneaked upstairs and got great seats in the corner. the view was great and well worth an extra £5.

Stayed in the same hotel. You would have thought the RFL had bought the hotel , not just rented a few rooms. Some of rhe RFL's employee's manners leave a lot to be desired .

Enjoyed the weekend . Have been to Cardiff 6 times now for varrious Millenium Stadium games and that by far is the quietest i have ever seen Cardiff.

We had tickets for the lower section (via gate 6) but went through gate 5 without any probs and ended up on the second tier with a great view.Had a great weekend but the atmosphere inside for me was flat. They did some good things though like the SL tv showing the fans etc but the empty seats told its own story

Very disappointed by the lack of a fan zone, and walking around Cardiff city centre, if it wasnt for the different rugby shirts you wouldnt really have known a festival of rugby league was on at the millenium stadium! A few stalls and some kids activities down the main shopping streets would have done wonders for selling the game.....but no, it would be a shame if theRFL spent any money on selling the game!!! Also the lack of match practice, in my opinion, made the games not that good to watch, maybe a switch back to later in the year! Back in Llanelli where i was staying with family, no one knew about the millenium magic, in fact I got asked how Wales got on in the 4 nations.......another masterstroke, I know lets promote rugby league in wales on a day when wales play in a major rugby union tournament......DOH!!!

TBH we had a great weekend, went fri morning got home yesterday afternoon.

City centre hotel was in a great location easy acces to all facilities.

lots of places to eat and drink in the area round the ground ( unlike scotland)

Atmosphere in the bars was great had a good bit of banter etc with all fans. Ground atmosphere was a bit flat tbh, ( until wigan played lol )

Bar prices in the ground are to be expected @ a national stadium, not much dearer than the DW now by all accounts. Didnt see the food prices in the ground as we went to various restaurants in the area.

60.000 over a cold Feb weekend is not too bad imo. The stadium will alway look empty as they only had one end open,

Stewards in the ground where fine to us, had one little issue that was sorted in 30 seconds when i told her that my mrs had my reserved ticket, no drama's really

All in all we had a great weekend . :D

Keep Wigan "Wigan"
