New signing facing disciplinary action after debut

Post by butt monkey »

Wigan new boy Jeff Lima could face disciplinary action just one match into his Super League career after being charged with two offences.

The former Melbourne Storm prop has been pulled up by the Rugby Football League's match review panel for incidents in the Warriors' 16-16 draw with St Helens on Saturday.

Lima has been charged with making dangerous tackles on Sia Soliola and Jon Wilkin during the clash at the Millennium Stadium.
He will face a disciplinary panel on Tuesday over the grade C offences, which carry a suspension of up to three matches.

bit of a shock to me this news - didnt see anything wrong with either challenge and now he could get a six match ban

That lad almost took burrows head off with a head high shot - and he doesnt get anything

In my view he should get a warning and no more

Lima To Face RFL Disciplinary

Wigan Warriors prop Jeff Lima has been called to appear before the RFL Disciplinary on Tuesday evening following the weekend game in Cardiff.

Lima has been charged with two offences in the draw against St Helens on Saturday night. Lima is charged with the Grade C offence of making dangerous contact with St Helens centre Sia Soliola in the 13th minute and a similar offence on Jon Wilkin in the 53rd minute.

The suspension tariff for a Grade C offence is a ban of up to three matches.

Will be a sad loss if banned!! Especially with the WCC coming up, if this was a Leeds or Sts team in this position their player/s would be let off.... as has previously happened for CC & GF games.

Oh, wait a minute, it's a Wigan player so he will defo get banned

But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

You have to do something to be let off! There is nothing in the incident with Wilkin. I'll review the other incident tonight.

The two incidents are identical. As the last man in the tackle he locks onto the arm/shoulder but he does not use his own weight or any great force to manipulate the joint.

Still given how the RFL has responded to our SL GF win I expect him to be banned.

If as suggested (being a Wigan player) he gets more than a 1 match ban.

Does it mean he'll be banned for the WCC???

Or is this seen as some other type of match??

Rumour has it that along with his 'official complaint' Jon wilkin will be telling his mum, who will talk to jeff lima's mum after school.

The ban will cover the WCC also.

Very disappointing.
I can only hope that his lack of experience of Super League refs/rules is a good defence.
If he gets match bans I will start to believe the Wigan Conspricy Theory (OK I can't spell!!)
