WIGAN vs Hull FC

Don't think we played that poorly in the whole of last season.
Passing was slow and laboured. Nothing coming from half back at the moment.
This wasn't helped by losing Deacon early on (he had a very nasty gash on the head and his legs were totally gone). Brett Finch can't come soon enough for us.
Don't know what the situation with Amos is, but we could do with moving Sam to 6 in the short term to give us a bit of spark.
Kicking game atrocious today; hopefully Finch will improve that.

Ganson was his usual self. Joel and Yeaman should have been in the sin bin for the first brawl. Not a very good idea to let Joel take the next drive in, but we looked a better team after the sending off.

As for Agar - that Hull team would have a better record than 1 out of 5 for the season with a good coach. He could be the first sacking of the season unless McRae pips him to it.

The brawl was a side-product of the constant fouling

What is to stop Lenagan / Madge saying exactly that BM and in an instance make Agar look ridiculous.

I said all afternoon to the lads I was with that one of our men would walk with all the crap that was going on. Ganson has the back bone of a crab & never was it more evident than today!

I thought it showed today that we need a back on the bench and that Sam is wasted at FB. Also I thought that Lima was very poor today making very little yards with the ball and also bouncing off and missing tackles.

The problem with Ganson is that he has the mentality of a fan in his approach to refereeing. Opposition fans hate Sam T. Hence, Ganson will ignore, indeed relish seeing Sam T get bashed about which is quite frankly pathetic and the reason why he should never have reached grade 1 as a referee. Similarly, Ganson will often target certain players and go after them with relish, the rules becoming irrelevant.

The radio commentators were not only talking about ignoring the foul play but Wigan being taken further back than 10 yards especially in comparison to Hull. Sometimes penalties or rather the timing of them can be very suspicous.

Best bit about the day was the playing of "Long after Tonight is All Over" by Jimmy Radcliffe, a Casino classic.

OK. Let's not sugar coat it. We were shite today. I thought Madge had become a dream and Noble was back. 5 drives and a kick!
CPW, I am a Ganson fan but he stank today. Seemed to ignore everything that went on and just blow up on a whim to establish the fact that he was there!
Hull turned up as complete underdogs with nothing to lose. They were shithousing from the start and we fell for it.

Mike Farrell should be sacked. Take from that what you will!

As for Joel, he is 30% brilliant, 70% prick. He should spend the rest of the season in the 20s till he grows up!

That said, most exciting game since relegation battle but it should have come against a better side than Hull! 2 points is 2 points. Need to improve for next week!

We bombed a lot of points and v those tactics you need to get well ahead and that somehow negates their intention.

I think without a back on the bench it means we can't change things abut when things like Deacon getting injured happen.

A back capable of playing full back or letting one of the winger do so would have allowed Sam to move to 6 and I feel form there today he would have had a lot more joy. By the time he hit the gain line from 1 today he had no where to go. I think his speed off the mark from 6 would have troubled Hull a lot more than he did from 1.

I am not advocating this permanently but Joel Tomkins actually played 6 for GB Academy v Australia in a successful GB Academy Tour Down Under.

Lockers seemed to do well setting up the tries with passes etc.

How did Tommy play? Part of the problem IMO is that Tommy is not an organising / directing halfback.
