Re: WIGAN vs Hull FC
Just going to create a thread about O'Loughlin's passing. Saw the tries on SSN and his two to Charnley were pinpoint accurate... last season he made several similar cut-out passes to Goulding, Carmont and Richards he has the eyes of a hawk and accuracy of an SAS Sniper.

Re: WIGAN vs Hull FC
Well we snatched a win. Hull came with a plan....... mainly to smash Sam T and nigle, they played harder than I have seen them do for some time. The thing is we let them!! Some may think I'm going a bit mad here, "we missed Fielden" his image has a hard bloke may have been dented but the team today failed in respect of getting stuck in, you can blame Ganson but it's a tough game, when they handed it out we should have responded, think Fielden would have at least tried to give it back. One time Tomkins hit late, penalty given, Manu carries on with Sam T pinned, think it was Ganson who pulled him off! Not the desired response from our players. Hull seemed a lot more up for it than us. All this maybe the downer after the WCC game, it's only Hull and so on from the players point of view, maybe a bit of stuff off field as well? who knows. Joel may have been idiot with what looked a raised elbow. It's easy t call Joel but most fans today wanted him to take that ball up that what gets us up for the game and it did, if he had not done it and we had not got fired up I think the game would have faded out with Hull winning.
Deacon can not take a knock now, this left us a man down for 60 mins, Lockers in at SIX and we lacked threat after to a degree. Marsh does not quite look like a SL player yet to me Charnley does though, problem is a backline with three of Charnley, Marsh and Goulding lacks a bit of cut, you can afford one maybe two. Pat is a big miss for kicks
both ways and also clearing the line another prop that lad.
Thats about it.

I still think that having McIlorum play most if not all of the game at hooker is going to cause us problems. I like him but I think hooker is such a crucial role that wheb things go flat in attack a change in hooker can make the difference and give you a bit more momentum going forward. Tommy wasn't noticeable but neither were our props today so he didn't have much of a platform to work on. Charnley was obviously getting targeted for high balls but we had very little pressure put on Hull with our kicking. Tommy kicking to the right was too predictable and we were losing that battle quite considerably. Goulding can't jump high enough and was being beaten to the ball every time. There were times when we had a clear overlap on the last and still opted to kick so as well as poor quality kicking game our decision making needs looking at pretty sharpish. We were lucky to get two points today.

Just to confirm what DaveO didn't say, Sam didn't do it today. He was on the receiving end of a load of cheap shots though. Tommy took a knock early on but had a good game.cpwigan wrote:I am not advocating this permanently but Joel Tomkins actually played 6 for GB Academy v Australia in a successful GB Academy Tour Down Under.
Lockers seemed to do well setting up the tries with passes etc.
How did Tommy play? Part of the problem IMO is that Tommy is not an organising / directing halfback.
Josh was the hero, then the villain, then the hero again. I Like him!

Good post Lucky my thoughts exactly. What happened on the field was orchestrated by Ganson's dismal performance.
Re: WIGAN vs Hull FC
Tommy was OK. Lockers was a mixed bag at 6. His passing was generally good but his kicking was pretty rubbish. Attack wise we looked devoid of ideas at times (which is why I think it would be been good to switch Sam to 6) and often kicked to the wing on the final tackle which wasn't working but we kept doing it to groans from the crowd.cpwigan wrote:

We also kicked into the shaded area of the stadium when it might have been better to kick to the other side and maybe get the sun in the defenders eyesDaveO wrote:Tommy was OK. who's being harsh on Deacs? The point is our kicking game is crap when he's not on.matt3009 wrote:some being a bit harsh on deacs as he couldn't even walk without help and had blood pouring out the side of his head when walked past,i had to cover my 4 year old eyes :omg:
