Double standards, referee touching a player
Double standards, referee touching a player
During the build up to the send off of Joel. At the end of a prolonged discussion whereby Yeoman clearly threatends Joel Tomkins whilst stood next to Ganson. Fitzgibbon then carrys on whining to Ganson. Sam Tomkins wants to take the penalty, Fitzgibbon verybally abuses Sam whilst stood next to Ganson.
GANSON THEN PROCEEDS TO PUSH AND PROD SAM IN THE CHEST
Anybody remember what happened to Gaz Hock for merely putting a hand on Ian Smith?

Re: Double standards, referee touching a player
I commented on this at the time.
It shows the total lack of respect that Ganson has for those around him (including his fellow officials).

“Usually the fans that abuse players like Sam have never done anything of any note themselves. They’re nobodies, whose greatest claim to fame is abusing someone who has, and these so-called ‘Eddie the Experts’ pretend to their mates that they have."

Exactly. It works both ways too. In education a teacher can be dismissed and prosecuted as easily, probably more than a pupil. Referees are not allowed to physically touch players
Re: Double standards, referee touching a player
again though ,what will be done about it sweet fa like normal
the rfl are turning themselves into a laughing stock and very quickly eroding any credibility they still have

Is that an actual rule in SL? (I know it is in junior rugby union where my son plays). If so regardless of any controversy over who got banned or not in the Hull game Ganson needs a ban himself.cpwigan wrote: Referees are not allowed to physically touch players

I would think so Dave even as a basic rule. The rule exists in the main because amateur referees referees amateurs / children.DaveO wrote:Is that an actual rule in SL? Can anybody imagine what would happen if a Premier League referee or 6 Nations referee pushed a player. Whatsmore Gnson did so twice, the first he struggled to make decent contact so he then had a second go.
I still cannot believe a professional referee stood there whilst Yeoman and Joel traded threats and insults whilst being apparently disciplined by said referee. There was an obvious argument to sin bin or even send both off there and then.

Rang RFL switchboard a little while ago, they're having problems with the e-mails - their IT guys are looking at it and advise to try again later on today
